Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 792

Sylvia looked her straight in the eye, not the slightest bit of hesitation in her face. “I’m sure. Absolutely sure.”

“Alright. I trust you.” Emmy nodded, setting the tablet down on the table.

She turned toward Danny and said, “No need for PR just yet.”

Danny looked puzzled but still replied, “Okay.”

Sylvia, on the other hand, looked really worried. “Emmy, those bloggers each have millions of followers. Their reach is insane. If we don’t step in now and things spiral, our next batch of machine preorders could take a serious hit.”

Emmy glanced up, her eyes steady and calm, like nothing could shake her. “Sylvia, this isn’t really about Torch Machines. They’re coming for me.”

She paused. Then her voice softened.

“But they’re playing dirty, and you could get dragged into this. For your own safety, do you want to stay at my place for a while, or maybe take a break and travel?”

Sylvia just stared at her, stunned. In this whole mess, Emmy was worried about her? That warmth hit her all at once. She sat up straighter, determined.

“If this is aimed at you, I’m not going anywhere. No way I’m backing out now. I’ll stay.”

Emmy’s lips curled into a small smile. “Alright then.”

“We might be in for a rough fight. But if we win, Torch Machines could blow up. We’re talking sales through the roof.”

She didn’t mention what would happen if they lost. She didn’t have to. Emmy was sure she could win this war. She’d been waiting for the other side to make a move. Only then could she use their attack against them and finally pull out whoever was hiding in the shadows.

...

Before the negative videos could really catch fire online, Emmy squeezed in a visit to the nursing home. She wanted to see her grandma.

But her grandmother still wouldn’t see anyone, locking herself away. Emmy stood at the door for a long time, then left a bouquet of sunflowers and went back to Moonlight Bay.

Everyone, report the Torch App in the app store. Get it taken down. Stop more people from getting hurt.

Emmy, get out of the tech world!

Last year, people were praising Emmy as the next big thing in tech. Now, everyone was kicking her while she was down, as if none of that support had ever happened. That’s just how people are. They love building someone up, but they love tearing them down even more.

It didn’t take long before angry crowds started showing up outside Starlight Corporation and even outside the old house at Moonlight Bay, waving banners and yelling, demanding Emmy give all the farmers an explanation.

But right in the middle of the storm, Emmy seemed almost untouched. She pulled Sylvia out into the garden, rolled out some yoga mats, and did prenatal yoga in the sunshine. She wouldn’t let Sylvia check the internet, and she didn’t look at it herself either. After yoga, she went back to her study and kept working on her code.

Two days slipped by like this.

That night, just as Emmy was about to fall asleep, she heard the old wooden window slide open from the outside. A shadow slipped quietly into the room.

Emmy was lying on her side, facing the window. Her heart hammered in her chest. She stared in shock, eyes wide, as the figure moved closer.
