“Who’s Claudia’s doctor?”
“That’s Dr. Townsend.”
Emmy lifted an eyebrow. “After all those years she spent overseas, living the wild life, I bet her body’s got a few... reminders.”
“Even if Dean hadn’t kicked her and made her lose the baby, with her age and all the chaos she’s put herself through, do you really think she could have kept the pregnancy anyway?”
“I want every single one of her medical reports, especially the ones about this. The more details, the better.”
Suddenly, Lorelei understood.
If a man as powerful as Ben ever found out that his precious wife was basically rotten to the core... That would be enough to make him never want to touch Claudia again.
“But before we do that,” Emmy said, “there’s something else I want to know.”
“Why did Ben even marry Claudia in the first place?”
Abriella, who’d been keeping quiet the whole time, raised her hand like she was back in grade school.
“I’ll, um, I’ll look into it!”
She looked at Emmy, so eager it was almost pitiful, like she was desperate to make up for something.
“I’ll find out everything, I promise!”
Emmy gave her a glance and nodded.
Then she looked at both of them, her voice calm but serious. “I want everything we talked about today to stay between the three of us. Not a word to anyone else.”
She turned to Lorelei, her tone gentle but with a quiet warning underneath.
“Dr. Hall, I’m trusting you this once.”
“If anything goes wrong...”
“I’ll replace my health manager, no hesitation.”
“Understood,” Lorelei said, sounding more serious than ever.
Once Lorelei left, Abriella started gathering her things.
“Oh, before you go,” Emmy called out, “tell your James about Claudia tricking you for information. He should know, just in case.”
Abriella’s face dropped. She started waving her hands like she was shooing away a bee.
