Juan’s cheeks flushed bright red. He never imagined anyone would notice his sneaky little move. The second he realized he might have just crossed the head of the Nelson family, his legs went weak and his voice shook.
“So… what did you tell them?”
Emmy looked at him. She almost laughed at the sight, but her eyes were icy cold.
“What else could I say? I told them you’re just into photography and were snapping some pics for fun. I also promised I’d make you delete everything.”
Mr. Nelson had given her a look she couldn’t quite read and quietly told her to keep her people in check. If she weren’t in her current situation, she honestly would have kicked Juan out herself and taken the CEO seat. The embarrassment today was almost unbearable.
She reached out to Juan, her tone leaving no room for argument.
“Give me your phone.”
Juan clutched his phone tight, panic all over his face.
Emmy narrowed her eyes. “Who told you to take those pictures of us?”
“Juan, you’re the CEO of Starlight Corporation. I expect you to actually help, not make things worse.”
Juan could only stare at her, lost for words. His eyes darted to Sylvia, who stood nearby. Emmy had just destroyed his pride right in front of an employee.
Sylvia picked up on the cue immediately and gave Emmy a polite bow.
“Ms. Eincoln, it’s cold outside. I’ll go in and make arrangements.”
Once Sylvia was gone, Juan finally, reluctantly, handed over his phone.
Emmy didn’t say another word. She took the phone and went inside. The night air stung her cheeks, but she ignored it.
“Emmy!” Juan hurried after her, dropping his voice to a desperate whisper. “You know I’m the CEO. Can you give me a little dignity?”
Emmy ignored him, heading straight to their private dining room. She sat down, opened up Juan’s photo gallery, and started scrolling.
What she found made her eyes go wide. His entire gallery was stuffed with photos of her. Not just the ones from today, but shots from the AI International Competition, close-ups from press interviews, and even a bunch of random candid pictures of her daily life. She scrolled quickly, estimating there were at least a few hundred.
