Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 50

Dean froze.

“Hospitalized?” His voice tightened, panic slipping through as he blurted, “What happened to her? Why is she in the hospital all of a sudden?”

The doctor sighed, handing him a bag of medication. “Acute gastritis. Looks like she skipped too many meals and pushed herself too hard.”

He shot Dean a pointed look. “You young people always think you’re invincible. The nurses told me Ms. Lincoln barely did anything these past couple of days except eat, take her medicine, and work on her laptop. As her boyfriend, you really should keep an eye on her.”

Dean wandered out of the hospital in a daze.

He couldn’t believe it—Emmy was in the hospital and hadn’t said a word to him. The same woman who used to wait for him to peel and slice her apples, who was so spoiled and delicate… How did she get through this by herself?

The thought barely crossed his mind before he scowled, eyebrows pulled tight.

He shouldn’t be worried about her.

She brought this on herself. This was what the Lincolns owed the Sparrows—it was only fair.

He drove over to Starlight Corporation and handed the bag of medicine to Evelina.

She took it, frowning. “Dean, did you get the wrong medicine?”

Dean glanced down at the label.

It was rabeprazole sodium—definitely not what Evelina needed. Her stomach problems were from years of bad eating habits; she was supposed to take omeprazole.

Rabeprazole was for those fragile, pampered stomachs—exactly the kind Emmy had grown up with.

Dean’s expression darkened. He tossed the medicine straight into the trash.

“The doctor must have given me the wrong one. I’ll go back and get yours in a bit.”

Evelina slipped her arm through his, leaning softly against him. “Dean, aren’t you working too hard these days? The company’s keeping you busy, and you still come by to take care of me. You really don’t have to come every day.”

Dean squeezed her hand. “You’re my girlfriend. Taking care of you is the least I can do.”

He looked down, telling himself over and over: Evelina was the one he needed to cherish for the rest of his life.
