Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 29

In her last life, Emmy had only heard the rumors about the mysterious Mr. Nelson. People said he was ruthless, sharp-eyed, and unpredictable—he only worked with someone if he felt like it.

She’d never actually seen him.

She was still craning her neck, trying to catch a proper look at this legendary man, when suddenly her wrist was grabbed—hard.

Before she knew it, she was yanked right out of the crowd.

Emmy turned and found herself face-to-face with a pair of furious eyes.

Dean.

Without a word, he dragged her into a nearby empty lounge, shoved her against the wall, and glared down at her. The anger in his eyes was almost suffocating.

“Emmy, do I even matter to you?” His voice was low, barely controlled. “You know Sparrow Group and Nelson Corporation have always been at odds, and you still want to work with Vista Home? Are you doing this just to spite me?”

“Dean, let go.” Emmy’s voice was flat, her face twisted in disgust. She tried to push him away, but he didn’t budge an inch.

She shot him an icy look. “Aren’t you worried Evelina might see us and get the wrong idea?”

“She’s not petty like you. She asked me to come talk to you. She’s worried. She told me that no matter how you treat her, you’ll always be her best friend.”

“Emmy, why can’t you be a little more like her?”

“Best friend?” Emmy let out a sharp laugh. “With a friend like that, I’d rather save myself the trouble. Who needs enemies?”

“You—” Dean’s chest rose and fell, his anger barely contained.

“You know Forward Technology is on its last legs. Two months and they’ll be done for. Some of their execs could lose everything—maybe even face charges. You know it’s a disaster waiting to happen, so why are you so determined to go down with them?”

He stared at her, unblinking.

“I’ve already reserved the deputy director spot for you in Sparrow Group’s tech division. You can start Monday.”

Emmy’s eyes narrowed, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

“How thoughtful of you, Mr. Sparrow. But I’ll pass.”

She tried to shove him away again, but he still wouldn’t budge.
