The boardroom devolved into complete anarchy. The acrid stench of gunpowder mingled with the coppery smell of blood, rapidly spreading through the enclosed air. Several directors practically crawled on their hands and knees, fleeing for their lives toward the exit. After all, a deranged Isabel was the one firing the gun, and nobody knew who she might aim at next. Even though Tyler Nelson's men had weapons, they didn't dare make a reckless move, nor did they have any justification to return fire. It all happened so fast that no one had time to process it. Tyler Nelson getting shot exceeded everyone's expectations. The directors who tried to flee the crossfire barely reached the exit before Will and his men grabbed them, tossing them back inside like helpless chicks.
By the time the chaos in the room was finally suppressed, a massive pool of blood had formed on the floor. Tyler Nelson pressed a hand desperately against his heavily bleeding chest, his face as pale as a sheet. He was so weak his breathing shuddered, staring at Isabel in the distance with sheer, unbelievable shock.
The culprit, Isabel, was still furiously pulling the trigger. When she realized the gun wouldn't make those loud bangs anymore, she pouted in disappointment. Looking disgusted and clueless, she tossed the overheating gun aside. Her eyes shifted, suddenly locking onto a gun held by a nearby bodyguard.
"That one looks like more fun," she announced, her eyes lighting up as she lunged to grab it.
The Shadow Core guard reacted swiftly. He turned and bolted for the door, intentionally luring the now-useless Isabel out of the boardroom.
"Don't run away. Let me play with it," Isabel yelled, completely falling for it. Chasing after him like a child denied a toy, she cried out, "Just let me play with it for a second, just one second."
Her manic shouting slowly faded down the corridor. James slowly stood up straight, his stern face devoid of any emotion as he firmly ordered Captain Tyler, "Bring the medics up. Get him into emergency surgery."
All of this had been well within his calculations. Tonight's coup was destined to end in bloodshed. So long before making a move, he had already stationed several ambulances downstairs. Quickly, the paramedics rushed in with a stretcher, swiftly loading Tyler Nelson and carrying him out.
Just as his stretcher cleared the doors, heavy, frantic wheezing echoed from the corner. Martha sat in her chair, clutching the fabric over her chest, her face turning a deep shade of purple. She had just watched her greatest rival, Tyler Nelson, fall into a pool of blood, and the ecstatic joy of revenge had surged to its peak. Unfortunately, her heart was already failing. The excessive excitement and stimulation directly triggered a massive heart attack right then and there.
