Emmy pressed her lips together, not giving a direct answer. Truthfully, she suspected the exact same thing. With James's immense power and influence, fabricating a reason to throw Dean into an asylum for the criminally insane was hardly a difficult task.
Initially, she too had thought a quick bullet would be better, as it would permanently eliminate any hidden dangers. Yet, instead of hastening Dean's death, James had pulled strings to keep him alive. He slapped a psychiatric label on him and tossed him into the most chaotic, violent asylum imaginable. Stripped of all dignity, Dean was left to suffer endless torture and brutal beatings, trapped in a hell where he could neither live in peace nor find the release of death. It was the most ruthless, agonizing punishment James could possibly inflict.
Watching Emmy's silent confirmation, Abriella gleefully rubbed her hands together. "I knew it. Your husband is definitely avenging you. He deliberately threw him into a living nightmare to suffer. Just thinking about him being trapped with violent maniacs every single day is so satisfying."
Emmy smiled helplessly. "Perhaps. But a facility with that level of security is surrounded by electric fences and heavily armed guards. He will never be able to step foot outside again for the rest of his life. Every extra day he lives is just another day of torment he earned for himself."
For the rest of their time, they dropped the topic of Dean and moved on to happier things. Emmy spent two comfortable days keeping Abriella company at the resort. On the third day, Abriella and Will stayed behind to continue their passionate, romantic honeymoon, while Emmy boarded the private jet back home with James.
After a long flight, the couple finally returned to Cloudrest Peak Castle in the Capital. Returning to Cloudrest Peak this time, Emmy felt an extraordinary sense of peace. Knowing that Dean was finally facing justice had completely lifted the heavy burden she had been carrying. She no longer had to worry or live in constant fear.
Her days became incredibly relaxed and joyful. She poured almost all of her energy into playing with Joey and Dolly, desperately trying to make up for the time she had missed and doing her absolute best to be a good mother.
