Nina rolled her eyes, unable to resist shouting a retort. 'She has a mental illness? Then why did she have an episode the exact moment she saw our Madam? Does that mean this Shelly inherently holds a massive grudge against our Madam deep down? But our Madam is so outstanding, she can make her own money and do her own scientific research. What possible reason could she have to take issue with finding such a wonderful daughter-in-law? Is she just relying on having a mental illness to deliberately run over here and smear our Madam?'
Martha choked slightly under the rapid-fire questions. She narrowed her eyes at the sharp-tongued little girl, then offered a insincere smile. 'You wouldn't understand this. Wait until you get married in the future, then you will know just how hard it is to get along between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.'
Nina raised an eyebrow, about to continue firing back.
'Nina,' Emmy's voice rang out. 'Forget it. Come back.'
This matter absolutely could not be allowed to escalate publicly any further today. With over a thousand fans watching and so many people recording on their phones, these elite family grudges would only become gossip for ordinary people's idle chatter. So this matter had to be handled privately. Hearing the command, though unwilling, Nina obediently shut her mouth. She glared fiercely at Shelly, then turned and scurried back to Emmy's side.
Martha knew to stop while she was ahead. She turned toward Emmy, smiling with extreme affection. 'When all is said and done, today's incident was my fault. To express my apologies, after your gathering is over... James, bring Emmy to Pearl Hospital, and I will personally give you two a proper explanation.' Speaking to this point, she looked around the room. 'I won't take up any more of you young people's time here. I hope everyone won't mind this little interlude, and I wish you all a wonderful time.'
After saying that, she elegantly pressed the jade-boned fan to her chest, bowed slightly, and casually handed the microphone to the hotel manager beside her. Then, she grabbed Shelly's arm, pulling her toward the exit. Shelly bit her lip, her feet planted like roots, refusing to move. Martha's face darkened, and she whispered something low into her ear. Only then did Shelly follow and leave, but her red eyes looked desperately at James, filled with urgency and longing. She really wanted her son to save her and take her away from that cage. Yet James had already coldly shifted his gaze, not sparing her even the slightest glance. Emmy took all this in, her eyes narrowing slightly.
Nina looked toward the main doors, then turned back to Emmy, asking for instructions in a low voice. 'Madam, do you want me to go check out the situation?'
Emmy nodded. 'Go ahead, just don't get caught.'
'Understood.' Like a loach, Nina vanished into the crowded throng the moment she turned around.
'Wifey! Wifey, you're the most beautiful! Look at me, wifey!!'
James's dark eyes instantly narrowed, and a highly lethal gaze shot over like a sharp blade. It was the death stare belonging to the master sergeant of special forces. The moment that male fan met those eyes, he inexplicably felt a chill run down his spine, his calves cramping up. He immediately clamped his mouth tightly shut, never daring to blindly shout another word.
The scene had already devolved into uncontrollable chaos. Fans pushed forward desperately, all wanting to get a little closer to their idol. Laney and Tiffany were sweating profusely, holding megaphones at the very front of the crowd, desperately trying to maintain order.
'Everyone step back! Don't push! Mind your safety!'
'Where are the fan club officers! Form a human wall! Quickly, form a human wall!'
