The black helicopter gleamed under the sunlight. While they could not see the people inside, that arrogant flight path unmistakably bore the signature of their legendary operator.
"Wow, is that really him?" one soldier muttered. "I am dying to know what his family looks like!"
Another clicked his tongue in awe. "I heard he has a boy and a girl. Is it true?"
"Of course it is true!" the man next to him chimed in. "Look at them riding a helicopter just for fun! Talk about spoiling your kids. We were playing in the mud at that age, and his kids are already conquering the skies."
A wave of envious sighs rippled through the crowd.
"He has such a perfect life," a young soldier said, wiping sweat from his face with a wistful look. "A beautiful wife, lovely kids, and he gets to take his whole family flying. Meanwhile, we are rolling in the dirt every day without even a glimpse of a girlfriend."
The base commander smacked the back of the young soldier's head. The blow was not hard, but it carried a firm lesson.
"Stop whining!" the commander scolded. "You only see him flying high in the sky now, but did you see him crawling out of piles of corpses? Do you have any idea how much blood he shed and how many wounds he endured to earn these few days of peace? No matter how he spoils his family, it is a life he bought with his own blood. He deserves every bit of it! Instead of drooling in envy, you should all get back out there and do a few more sets of weighted cross country runs!"
The commander paused, his voice ringing out across the field. "Who knows? If you train hard enough, you might even earn some personal guidance from him!"
The previously sluggish crowd instantly erupted with energy. Eyes lit up with fierce determination.
"Are you serious, sir?" someone yelled. "Did he not retire? I heard he became a big CEO making millions. Would he really come back to teach us?"
