Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1386

Mercedes did not move. Instead, she let out a cold laugh. "You used me last time and nearly got James killed! He is ignoring me completely now. He looks at me like I am garbage! I am not working with you again, you lunatic!" She growled hysterically. "Do you want to bet I will go tell James everything about your plan right now? If I confess, he might actually forgive me!"

A soft chuckle drifted through the phone. "Oh, Mercedes, your naivety is almost endearing. If you want to lose James forever and have him personally send you to prison, go ahead and tell him. But if you want Emmy to disappear from his side completely, leaving him to belong solely to you again... then come to the rooftop. This is your last chance."

With that, the call disconnected. The image on the screen flashed. The memory instantly shifted to the windswept rooftop of the building. The sky was overcast, and the wind whipped Mercedes's long hair wildly into the air. Sitting opposite her was Abis, casually toying with a lighter. Watching Mercedes arrive out of breath, a playful smile touched the corners of his mouth.

"You really do love him. You would do absolutely anything for him, would you not?" Abis remarked.

Mercedes glared at him coldly, her chest heaving heavily. She ground her teeth, as if having made some sort of final decision, and spoke viciously. "I will work with you one last time! This is the very last time! If you fail to make her disappear, if you cannot take her away... I swear to God I will go to James and expose you! I will drag you down to hell with me!"

Abis snapped his lighter shut and stood up, offering a slight, elegant bow like a true gentleman. "Very well. We have a deal. Once I successfully take Emmy away, this will indeed be the last time we ever meet." He walked up to Mercedes and lowered his voice. "In two days, find an excuse to invite her out diving. I will handle the rest."

Mercedes let out a cold laugh. "What reason could I possibly have to invite her? Emmy is not stupid. Now that she is on her guard against me, why would she ever agree to go diving with me? Besides, even if she did agree, she would insist on choosing the dive location herself to prevent any tricks on my end. How could a location she picks play right into your hands?"

Abis lightly spun the lighter between his fingertips, his eyes gleaming with a dark, eerie light. "No one understands her better than I do. You only need to tell her that you want to challenge her to a competition. The stakes will be simple. If she wins, you disappear completely and stop interfering in her relationship with James. But if she loses, she has to give him back to you. With her personality, she cannot tolerate a single grain of sand in her eye. To completely rid herself of a nuisance like you, she will definitely accept the challenge. As for the location..." Abis chuckled lowly, radiating the arrogance of a man entirely in control. "To avoid an ambush, she will absolutely pick the dive spot she finds most familiar and secure. And I just so happen to know exactly which location she is most familiar with. After that, whether you win or lose, I will take her away."

In that exact instant, four highly trained men in black wetsuits surged out of the calm water like ghosts. Wielding incredibly sharp underwater blades, they immediately swarmed and entangled Penny. Swimming further ahead, Emmy was completely oblivious to the ambush. She was still fiercely pushing herself toward the depths, determined to win the bet.

In Mercedes's extracted memory, there was no actual footage of Emmy's struggle in the deep sea. Mercedes had not followed them. Instead, she had immediately twisted her body and swam far away in the opposite direction. She was clearly terrified of being caught in the crossfire by those violent mercenaries. She hid in the ocean for a while, estimating the time before slowly ascending to the surface.

The very second Mercedes broke the surface of the water, the scene that unfolded on the screen caused Emmy to instantly grip the tablet with a white-knuckle hold.
