Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1327

“I’m here. I’ve always been here.”

“Don’t be scared. I’m right here, babe.”

“No one’s going to take you away. No one’s ever going to hurt you again.”

James leaned down, pressing his lips close to her ear. He could feel the chill of sweat on her skin. His voice was raw, thick with emotion.

He kept repeating those words. Again and again. His big hand moved gently up and down her back, steady and reassuring.

Maybe it was that safe, protective scent he carried, or maybe it was the way he called her name over and over with so much love. Whatever it was, the dark panic around her seemed to finally start breaking.

A second before the team of foreign doctors burst into the room, Emmy finally began to calm down.

She stopped struggling in fear. Her fingers, which had been clinging to James’s hand, slowly let go.

But her eyes stayed closed. It was like she’d lost all her strength. She went limp, and her body slipped right back into a deep, lifeless sleep.

The lead doctor rushed over, carefully lifting Emmy’s eyelid and checking the monitors nearby.

When the quick exam was done, his face turned even more serious.

“Mr. Nelson, your wife’s situation isn’t looking good.”

“She just had an extreme stress reaction. Right now, she’s totally trapped inside a nightmare. We can’t get her to wake up.”

James gently eased Emmy’s head back onto the pillow. He turned toward the doctor, the exhaustion burning in his red, sleepless eyes.

“Why? Why is this happening? She wasn’t even physically hurt.”

The doctor sighed, flipping through a stack of neurological reports in his hands. His voice was firm and clinical.

“Mr. Nelson, we’ve urgently analyzed her blood and neural scans.”

“We found that the suppressant from the original medication in her system is barely working anymore.”

James tensed up. His fists clenched tight at his sides.

If the drug’s effect was fading, did that mean…

The doctor carried on, “This drug was meant to block her memories. Now that the wall is coming down, it means your wife is probably starting to remember things.”

“But what’s worrying is how it happened. Those memories broke free while she was in terrifying panic, facing death—she felt like she was drowning.”

“Whatever she’s remembering right now, it must be a mess—and probably filled with the most painful, desperate moments of her life.”

“All that darkness flooding her mind has thrown her hormones into chaos. That’s why her body was convulsing, why she was panicking.”
