Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1102

Andrew paused for a couple of seconds before he finally spoke. “Yeah, there’s someone I like.” He looked down, his voice softer. “I’ve liked her since school, actually… It’s been a long time. But for all kinds of reasons, we kept missing each other. Years went by like that.”

Emmy watched Mr. Aldridge, taking in every bit of that serious, heartfelt look on his face. Then she glanced over at her mom, who was staring at the floor, her ears burning red. Emmy couldn’t resist stirring things up a little.

She let out a dramatic sigh and put on the most disappointed face she could manage. “Oh? So Mr. Aldridge already likes someone? That’s really too bad.” She shook her head, keeping a close eye on both of them. “I was just thinking, you’re such a great guy, Mr. Aldridge. If you were single, I would’ve tried to set you up with my mom.” She grinned, pretending to be regretful. “Looks like I was matchmaking for nothing.”

Andrew completely froze. For a second, he looked like he didn’t know what to do. He opened his mouth, ready to explain, when Teresa suddenly grabbed Emmy’s arm, her voice flustered and embarrassed.

“Emmy, what are you saying? Mr. Aldridge is my boss, you can’t joke about stuff like that!”

Emmy blinked innocently. “Your boss? I thought Mr. Aldridge liked you, Mom. Isn’t he trying to win you over?” She tilted her head, acting thoughtful. “I mean, what kind of boss travels all this way just to go to a tech summit with his employee? And who puts off a billion-dollar project to spend a whole afternoon wandering through churches with a colleague?” She shrugged. “But if it’s all just a misunderstanding, then never mind. Forget I mentioned it.”

“It’s not a misunderstanding.” Andrew’s sudden words made them both jump. The usually calm, collected Andrew was suddenly flustered, his composure gone. He didn’t care about appearances or pride anymore. Something in his eyes said this was his one shot, and he wasn’t about to let it slip away.

“Emmy, you got it right. I do like your mom. I’ve loved her ever since I first met her, twenty-six years ago. I want to marry her.” The last part came out strong and clear.

Teresa stared at him, her eyes wide in shock. She never thought he’d come right out and say it in front of her daughter. And he even said he wanted to marry her.
