Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1012

He leaned in at the edge of the bed, brushing a kiss against the corner of Emmy’s lips as he gently laid her down. His hands moved down her back, coming to rest at her slender waist. With one strong pull, he drew her close, holding her tight against his chest.

His kisses wandered lower. From the curve of her mouth to her chin, then down to her graceful, swan-like neck, where he lingered, savoring her softness.

Emmy tilted her head back, exposing the delicate line of her throat. Her hands clung to James’s broad shoulders, her fingers digging in, barely holding on. Her thoughts blurred, logic slipping away. All she could do was follow his lead, swept up and down in a tide of longing. She let herself fall, losing herself with him.

Outside, the night was deep and quiet. Somewhere along the way, a wind had started to blow.

In the courtyard, on the old plane tree, two leaves that had never met were suddenly swept together by the breeze. At first, they touched just lightly, brushing at the tips, a gentle test. Then the wind picked up, stronger now. The two leaves broke free from their branch, tumbling together in the air, twisting and turning, clinging so tightly it was as if they wanted to become one.

A soft rain began to fall, tapping out a quick, urgent rhythm on their surfaces. Droplets slid along the veins of the leaves, gathering, blending, becoming one.

The wind didn’t let up. It whipped harder, driving the leaves to shiver and spin in the storm. Every time they collided, it sent an ache deep into their fragile hearts. Every instant they tangled, the connection felt desperate, as if they might just melt into each other.

Finally, with one last wild gust, the two leaves gave in to exhaustion, still clinging close as they floated down to the soft, damp earth.

Even after landing, they didn’t part. They stayed overlapped, tip to tip, stem to stem. The rain soaked them through, pressing them even closer together, impossible to separate.

The next morning, sunlight already poured through the windows. In the kitchen, breakfast had been ready for ages, still sitting warm on the stove.

Teresa sat on the couch, a finance magazine in her hands. Every few minutes she checked her watch, then glanced toward the hallway.

Nine o’clock. The young couple’s room was still perfectly quiet.

Something about that made Teresa smile to herself. She set down her magazine, picked up her phone, and sent Andrew a message.

[Running a little late to the office today.]

Andrew replied right away. [Is everything alright? Want me to come by?]
