"No, I'm not talking. I don't need to, and I don't want to."
Vespera's rejection was firm and decisive.
She shoved against Dominic's tall frame and stood up from her seat. "I need to use the restroom. Please move."
Dominic didn't budge, his body angled sideways.
He leaned against the table with one hand, his other resting casually on the back of her chair.
His gaze darkened with frustration, lingering on her for a long moment. "Fine. If you won't talk, then I'll speak. You just listen."
"Mr. Reid, I really need to pee—right now!" Vespera snapped, shoving him again.
But before she could pull away, Dominic swiftly grabbed her hand and stood up beside her. "Then let's go. I'll walk you there."
"It's fine. There are no monsters in the bathroom. I don't need an escort," she said sharply, trying to free her hand.
Dominic's grip tightened, his voice hoarse. "Monsters or not, I'll be there. Always."
Vespera's face remained impassive.
Although she hadn't felt anger the night before, a smoldering resentment began to stir within her.
"Who said anything about a future with you?" she thought. "We never had one, and now even the illusion is gone."
"Mr. Reid," she said, "If you're really that bored, then fine. Go ahead. Enjoy your moment."
With that, Vespera brushed past him and headed toward the restroom.
Dominic's hand lingered on hers, his grip unyielding as he followed closely behind.
He finally released her only when they reached the door.
As Vespera turned to close it, she cast him a cold, pointed look.
Without saying another word, she closed the door and locked it.
She sat on the toilet for half an hour.
Finally, she couldn't stand it anymore.
When she opened the door, Dominic was still standing there.
As she looked closer, she noticed the dark circles beneath his eyes. The crease between his brows deepened, revealing just how drained he truly was
