The shrimp was immediately dropped back onto the plate, and Channing lowered his head to eat his soup.

Coralie's expression softened slightly as she picked up her own spoon.

Sitting across from each other, neither said another word.

As they ate, the corners of Channing's lips suddenly curled upward into a soft smile.

Coralie sent Channing back to the bedroom to rest.

Dr. Landon had said his body was too weak and required at least two days of strict bed rest.

"You'll be exhausted." Channing frowned, glancing at her stomach. "I'll call Jude back."

"Jude said he had documents to handle and left."

"Dr. Landon..."

"Him?" Coralie scoffed. "He left a note saying his dog was going into labor with her second litter and he had to go deliver the puppies."

Channing was speechless. This wasn't exactly the time to play matchmaker.

Leaving Coralie, a pregnant woman, to look after him for hours?

What were they thinking?!

"Come up here and lie down with me." Channing shifted over to make room.

She was pregnant, and her face clearly showed signs of exhaustion.

"I'm not tired."

Coralie refused and remained in her chair, only to doze off at some point without realizing it.
