"You are..." Coralie looked at Jude in confusion, taking a half-step back defensively.

"I am the Governor's secretary. My last name is Jude. You can just call me Jude."

He bowed slightly, his attitude extremely respectful. "The Governor heard about the situation with Plot 5 and invited you in for a chat."

"Really!"

A bright gleam instantly lit up Coralie's eyes, and she nodded eagerly. "Please lead the way."

Jude brought her to the door of the Governor's private lounge.

He knocked lightly. "Governor, Ms. Quill is here."

"Come in."

The man's deep, gravelly voice came through the door, profound and impossible to read.

"Ms. Quill, our Governor has a rule. He doesn't show his face," Jude kindly reminded her. "So once you go inside, just stay on your side of the screen."

Coralie nodded and flashed him a grateful smile. "Thank you, Jude."

"You're very welcome. It's my duty." Jude smiled brightly, speaking a bit too fast and letting the words slip out before he could catch them.

"Hmm?"

Coralie paused. His duty?

Knowing that saying more would only lead to more mistakes, Jude decided not to explain and silently closed the door behind him.

Coralie felt even more bewildered. Honestly, the Governor's secretary was surprisingly approachable.

The spacious lounge was decorated in an elegant, antique style.
