"Is that so?"
Channing pondered for a moment. Coralie had quite a fiery temper.
If their daughter took after her...
That would be fine.
Girls needed to be a little fierce so they wouldn't get bullied.
"Governor, is Ms. Quill expecting a boy or a girl?"
Channing felt his heart breaking. He pulled a long face and said, "I was hoping for a daughter, but a son is fine too."
Either way, it was Coralie's baby, and he would love it.
"Uh."
Jude smiled awkwardly. No wonder the boss looked so miserable.
"It's okay. You can always have a daughter next time."
Channing pursed his lips, his expression turning solemn.
He had seen how terribly Coralie suffered from morning sickness. Being a mother was incredibly hard.
There wouldn't be a next time.
"How are the preparations for the reception in the main hall?" Channing asked, putting down the documents to stop dwelling on the frustrating topic.
"Everything is ready," Jude replied respectfully, checking his watch. "Governor, it's about time for us to head out."
"Mhm."
Channing stood up, adjusting his suit jacket. As he walked toward the door, he didn't forget to glance at the TV screen.
It was broadcasting live footage from the hall.
"Governor—"
Jude opened the door, ready to report the first item on the agenda.
*Bam—*
The opened door was abruptly slammed shut. Channing yanked Jude back inside.
Jude bumped into the table, his brain almost short-circuiting. He stammered, "G-Governor, what's wrong?"
"Look at this. Is the woman in the video Coralie?!"
Channing dragged Jude to the screen, pointing at a woman in a white tailored suit, holding a document folder and looking rather "sneaky."
Jude immediately leaned in, adjusting his glasses to get a better look. "She does look a lot like Ms. Quill."
No.
It *was* Ms. Quill.
