"Governor, where are we heading?"
His subordinate carefully studied Channing's expression. He had never seen him look this devastated.
"To her villa," Channing said, closing his eyes, his voice heavy with gloom.
"Huh?"
The subordinate was confused for a second. Didn't Coralie just kick him out?
Oh.
Maybe he was going back to pack his bags.
"Understood."
Whatever the Governor decided to do, he surely had his reasons.
—
At the villa.
The subordinate stood quietly to the side, watching as Channing personally sorted and organized Coralie's clothes.
The Governor had mentioned that Coralie hated the hassle of matching her outfits. So, he had to pre-plan her daily outfits for the foreseeable future and arrange them neatly.
Otherwise, she'd get frustrated halfway through getting dressed and throw a tantrum.
And Coralie loved tortellini soup, so the Governor wrapped a huge batch and stored them in the freezer.
Finally, he wrote a bunch of sticky notes and placed them in every corner of the house where she might feel lost without him.
The subordinate knew the Governor loved Coralie down to his bones, but witnessing it firsthand was still awe-inspiring.
No wonder the few brothers who knew the inside story secretly called him whipped.
Looking at it now, he really was completely whipped.
"Let's go."
Having arranged everything perfectly, Channing rolled his suitcase out.
"Governor, you left a jacket on the sofa," the subordinate reminded him.
"Leave it."
Channing glanced at the suit jacket, a faint curve appearing on his lips as he spoke lazily, "If I can't stay, at least my clothes can."
That jacket was the one she had personally bought for his birthday last year.
He didn't believe she would throw it away.
During his absence, he hoped that whenever she saw the jacket, she would think of him.
When missing someone grows to a certain point, it becomes uncontrollable.
And then, she would call him back.
He hoped that by the time he returned to her side, he would have resolved all the lingering troubles.
"Understood."
The subordinate's mouth twitched slightly. He hadn't realized the Governor was this calculating.
