Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1808

Before, Annie had played others for absolute fools.

Did she really think spending a few days in a jail cell would cleanly resolve everything?

Life wasn't that easy.

"Alright." Kurt nodded, his voice soft. "Have fun, but don't tire yourself out."

—

City Center.

To avoid being spotted, Annie intentionally wore a mask.

Stepping out of the car.

She hooked arms with her friend, happily walking inside.

In a daze, she suddenly spotted a familiar silhouette in the distance.

Ebony Fox?

She hated Ebony Fox to the bone; she'd recognize her even if she turned to ash.

Annie halted abruptly, instinctively shrinking back behind her friend.

"What's wrong?" her friend asked curiously.

"I think I saw Ebony Fox," Annie whispered, lowering her voice. "On the left, check if she's still there."

"Ebony Fox?"

Her friend turned to look. Amidst the bustling crowd, there was absolutely no sign of Ebony Fox.

"There's no one there. Are you hallucinating?"

Her friend sighed in exasperation. "If she saw you, wouldn't she be chasing you down?"

"True."

Annie thought it made sense. Ebony Fox wanted her dead.

She must have imagined it.

The two of them continued shopping merrily. In just half an hour, they blew millions.

Exhausted from shopping, Annie went to grab some dessert.

Midway, she went to the restroom. As she was washing her hands, she suddenly saw a woman in the mirror behind her who looked exactly like Ebony Fox walking past.

Her hands froze under the running water. She whipped around, only to find the space completely empty.

No.

She had definitely seen Ebony Fox.
