“He and I...”
Coralie opened her mouth, nearly letting the words "sugar baby arrangement" slip out.
She funded him. He belonged to her.
Right.
But she absolutely could not say that out loud. If her mother found out, she'd chew her out endlessly.
Besides—
She really didn't want to drag Channing Irving into her family life.
“Forget it, you guys wouldn't get it anyway. Since Ebony Fox is fine, I'm heading back to the casino.” Coralie stood up, grabbed her bag, slipped into her heels, and left.
“Hey?”
Theia wanted to ask more, but Coralie bolted out the door faster than a rabbit.
“That girl is always rushing around in a panic. I have no idea what she's actually doing with her life.”
Juniper blinked but stayed quiet.
What was she doing?
She was too busy getting tangled up with her pretty boy, of course.
Though it looked like she was getting a bit bored of him and was considering upgrading to a new pet.
——
At the Schwartz family estate.
Monique stood frozen in place, her face as pale as a ghost as she stared dead-eyed at the news feed on her phone.
She looked at her husband in absolute shock, her voice trembling. “Annie always seemed so sweet, so gentle and kind. How could she possibly do something this purely psychotic?”
“You can't judge a book by its cover.”
Hector Schwartz poured her a glass of water to help her calm down, sighing. “She might be young, but she knows exactly how to put on a flawless act.”
Monique cupped the glass, her expression a mess of conflicting emotions.
She truly never imagined a person could be this deeply, inherently vicious.
“Honey, thank god Kurt never liked her. Otherwise...”
The thought that she had almost forced a walking disaster into their family made Monique want to slap herself across the face.
“Our son has a good eye,” Hector chuckled softly. “Just look at how this whole thing played out. Ebony Fox handled everything so calmly and logically.”
“Even when she was being completely set up, she still stepped in to save a life. That kind of grace and genuine kindness is incredibly admirable.”
Monique bit her lip, staying totally silent.
