Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1772

At her mother-in-law's words, Monique's head snapped up, her voice laced with guilt.

"That was before. I don't have that idea anymore."

Annie had hidden her true colors entirely too well. Thank God she was finally exposed.

Otherwise—

If she had actually married into the family, who knew what kind of disaster she would have brought down on them.

"Hmph."

The more Hannah thought about it, the angrier she got. She slammed her silverware onto the table.

The sharp sound startled Kent so badly he immediately dropped the half-eaten quail egg he was holding.

"I don't even know what to say to you, you..."

Since the younger generation was present, Hannah spared her dignity and refrained from screaming curses. Instead, she kept it sharp. "How is your judgment so terrible? How dare you try to drag just any random trash into this family?"

"Besides, doesn't Kurt already have a girl he likes?" Hannah's face was ice cold. "Juniper's sister."

"They are just too different," Monique muttered defensively, feeling incredibly wronged. "Plus, their family backgrounds don't match at all."

Hector quickly nudged her. What time was it to be bringing up family backgrounds?

Juniper was sitting right there. Wasn't saying that basically a direct slap to her face?

His wife was good in a lot of ways, but she severely lacked tact and was completely oblivious to the room.

Realizing her slip-up, Monique slowly raised her head, sneaking a glance at the girl eating shrimp across the table.

Juniper looked up at the exact same moment. Their eyes met, and the corners of Juniper's lips curled into a slow smile.

Except, the smile was a little chilling.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

Startled, Monique broke into a fit of uncontrollable coughing.

"Are you okay?" Hector quickly rubbed her back, sighing in exasperation. "Juniper just smiled at you. What are you so scared of?"

"Why wouldn't I be scared?" Monique glared at him, feeling absolutely humiliated. "Honey, let's just go."

This dinner was giving her a panic attack.

If this kept up, she really wasn't going to be able to breathe.
