Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1668

Ebony Fox was genuinely perplexed as to why Mrs. Schwartz had suddenly invited her out for coffee.

Even though her friend Juniper had married into the family, Ebony Fox herself had very little interaction with the rest of the Schwartz household.

She had only ever met Monique, the mother, once at the wedding.

“It's probably about the young master,” the assistant mused, resting her chin on her hand. “Do you think it's because he cut his hand?”

A string of question marks flashed through Ebony Fox's mind.

“It's a tiny scratch. Is she seriously going to interrogate me over that?”

“Hard to say,” the assistant replied. “He's her only son. She treats him like the center of the universe. If he got hurt, she's definitely going to want answers.”

“I'll just go.”

Ebony Fox rubbed her temples, feeling like she was about to deal with a furious parent at a preschool.

It was going to be exhausting.

At 7:00 PM sharp.

Ebony Fox walked into the café right on time.

A few moments later.

The elegantly dressed Monique appeared before her, a designer bag draped over her arm.

“Ms. Fox, it's been a while.”

Ebony Fox stood up and offered a polite nod. “Mrs. Schwartz.”

“Oh, don't be so formal. Please, sit.” Monique smiled warmly at Ebony Fox, cutting straight to the chase. “I asked you here today, and really, it's nothing too serious.”

“Please, speak freely,” Ebony Fox said smoothly. “Is this about Kurt?”

She hated beating around the bush.

“You truly are sharp, Ms. Fox. You guessed it right away.”

Monique set her bag down, elegantly stirring her coffee with a silver spoon as she smiled. “Since you already know, I won't hide it. I am indeed here about Kurt.”

As she spoke.

Monique pulled a few photographs from her designer bag and slid them across the table.

Ebony Fox lowered her eyes, confused. “These are?”
