Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1544

"My Juniper is just too kind."

Shanley kissed her slightly red nose, speaking softly, "Let's go see Grandpa."

"Yeah."

Juniper let Shanley hold her hand as they headed to the cemetery.

The old man's grave was located right in the middle of the hilltop, offering a sweeping view of Eclara City. The spiritual balance of the location was excellent.

Shanley knelt before the tombstone, pouring out the liquor the old man had loved most when he was alive.

Straightening his back, he spoke respectfully: "Hello, Grandpa. I'm Shanley, the man Juniper is going to marry."

"Juniper is doing very well now. She has parents and siblings. You're no longer the only one who loves her."

"Rest assured, I will never mistreat her, and I will never leave her. If I break my vow, feel free to come after me to settle the score."

Shanley looked at the girl beside him, a smirk on his lips. "Why don't you make a vow in front of Grandpa too, promising you won't leave me?"

"?"

Juniper shot him a look and ignored him.

He was crazy.

There was no way she was making such a childish vow, much less having Grandpa come after him to settle a score.

That would scare him to death.

"Grandpa, your granddaughter is bullying me." The amusement in Shanley's eyes deepened as he said deliberately, "How about you have a little talk with her about it?"

"Shanley."

Juniper grabbed a handful of grass from nearby and tossed it lightly at him, glaring hard. "Can you stop talking nonsense in front of Grandpa?"

"How is it nonsense?"

Shanley caught her wrist, tilting his chin up with a smirk. "I'm just afraid you'll love me and leave me, so I'm asking Grandpa to back me up."

"Psycho."

Juniper stared at him for a few seconds, genuinely amused by his ridiculous words, and let out a small laugh.

"There we go, a smile at last." Shanley stroked her head and turned back to the old man. "Grandpa, your granddaughter is all cheered up. Rest easy."

"Shanley..."

Juniper's eyes stung slightly as she nestled into Shanley's arms, wrapping her arms around his waist and looking up at him.

"What's wrong?"

The wind was strong, so Shanley opened his coat to wrap her up against him, his chin resting against her hair.

"Just feeling a little lucky." Juniper moved her red lips, speaking with deep sincerity. "It's a good thing I didn't kill you back when our two organizations were at war."
