Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1272

Jimmie shoved his phone back into his pocket, a flicker of irritation crossing his face.

Clark scratched his head. *Why is he angry again?*

In the car.

Jimmie leaned back with his eyes closed, taking a brief rest while Clark quietly went over tomorrow's schedule.

"Huh?" Clark suddenly glanced in the rearview mirror, looking puzzled.

"What is it?" Jimmie asked, his eyes still shut.

"Why has that car behind us been tailing us?" Clark blinked in curiosity. "They've been following us since we left the hotel. Could it be..."

*Bang!*

Before he could finish, a violent impact jolted the car, sending them swerving.

"Holy—!" Clark gripped the steering wheel in a panic. Jimmie snapped his eyes open and twisted around to look back.

"They did that on purpose!" Clark shouted, his voice cracking. "Hold on tight, Jimmie!"

*Bang!*

The rear of the car was slammed again.

"I know Stellara Country has its rough edges, but we haven't done anything to deserve an assassination attempt!" Clark was breaking out in a cold sweat. "You need to call the police!"

*The police?*

Jimmie gripped his phone, but a single name flashed through his mind.

*Esme Langley.*

Who else would be arrogant enough to run someone off the road in the middle of Stellara Country?

"Just drive safe and try to shake them!" Jimmie ordered.

Just as he prepared to dial the authorities, a black sedan came tearing down the street at breakneck speed, shooting straight into the gap between their car and the attackers.

With a violent swerve, the black sedan slammed head-on into the front of the pursuing car.

*Crash!*

"Jimmie, Mr. Langley just saved us!" Clark was buzzing with adrenaline. "Holy crap, that drift! The force of that crash! He really didn't care if he took himself out in the process!"

"I finally understand why Ms. Payne is friends with him," Clark continued in awe. "He's ridiculously loyal."

"Oh no, wait, he looks hurt."

"Get the medical kit," Jimmie instructed instantly, already striding toward Luella.

He looked down at her hand, his brows knitting tightly together. "You're bleeding."

"Huh?" Luella glanced at her hand dismissively. "Punched him a bit too hard. Caught his glasses. It's just a scratch."

She casually shook her hand out and looked up at Jimmie. "You guys okay?"

"We're fine."

Just as Jimmie replied, Clark jogged over with the first-aid kit.

"Mr. Langley, that was incredible," Clark said, setting the box down and digging for bandages and disinfectant. He looked at Luella with pure admiration. "If you hadn't shown up, we'd probably be dead. Thank you."
