Hanging up the phone, Juniper met the anxious eyes of her siblings. "Celine is back at Liberty Island."
"Really?" Melvin dropped his paring knife, his fists clenching and his eyes reddening. "Is she terrified? Was she crying on the phone just now?"
"Well, someone was definitely crying, but it wasn't Celine," Juniper said, scratching her head with a wry smile. She had never heard a grown man sob so hard he could barely form a coherent sentence.
The others exchanged bewildered looks. Celine wasn't crying? Then who was?

It was exactly as Juniper had predicted. Though Corvus had let Celine go, he was playing a long game, hoping to use her to track down the rest of the siblings.
Jimmie, Harold, Melvin, Ebony Fox, Coralie, and Juniper disguised themselves with hyper-realistic masks and slipped onto Liberty Island in secret.
Arriving at the estate, they pushed open the door to the inner chambers. They expected to find a traumatized Celine huddled in Warren's arms, weeping uncontrollably.
Instead, they found Warren crying his eyes out.
The man was holding his wife, his eyes bloodshot, weeping so dramatically he looked utterly helpless. Celine, on the other hand, though pale and clearly exhausted, looked remarkably calm. She was gently patting his back, speaking in a soothing voice. "Go ahead and cry. Let it all out. You'll feel better."
The group's mouths twitched as they stared at the scene. Was this really the fearsome Lord of Liberty Island? He looked like a completely whipped, delicate husband. It was a sight they truly hadn't been prepared for.
At the sound of the door opening, Celine's head snapped up.
"Guys?" Her gaze swept across their disguised faces, finally landing on Juniper. Her voice instantly spiked an octave. "Juniper!"
Shoving the weeping Warren aside, she threw her arms wide and practically sprinted toward her younger sister.
