Ava walked into the living room with a puzzled expression she looked at the main door as if she were looking for someone. Approaching the window, she looked out at the parking lot with its large number of cars parked there. She noticed an empty space there.

Ava fixed her gaze there. For a few seconds, her eyes flashed green. Her wolf was upset that lan had been hurt. “Stop thinking about him. He is no one to us,” she muttered to her wolf, looking away from the window. However, her mind reflected lan’s burned palm. She blinked, not feeling well inside.

‘Congratulations, Ian. You have successfully ruined my birthday again,‘ she thought.

She felt a hand on her shoulder, which caused her to turn around. It was Stephen

“Steph”

He reached out her hand and handed her a present. “That’s from me.”

“Thank you, bro,” Ava said, hugging him.

“Well, someone helped me to choose it, though,” he muttered as they broke the embrace.

She chuckled and said, “A lot has happened in the last four years, I guess. I still have a lot of things to learn.”

Stephen’s eyes rolled back. “Nothing much, lil sis.”

They both laughed afterward. Stephen’s eyes were drawn to Dane, who was staring at them.

“I think your boyfriend wants to be alone with you. Go to him. He doesn’t like your family.”

“Steph, that’s not the case. He is a sweet person.”

“Yeah, yeah. I have seen how sweet he is. He was even envious of me. Of your brother!”

With a sigh, Ava looked at Dane and said, “No, he is a good man.”

“Maybe. But he was always a jealous kid anyway.‘

Ava did not get into any verbal argument with Stephen. All she wanted tonight was to be happy.

“By the way, did you say something to Ian?” He inquired in a low voice.

She looked at him and asked, “Why? Did he say something?”

“No. But he had a furious expression. Before coming here, he was quite happy. But when he left, he was very upset, you know?”

“Steph, you are my brother. You know he is my ex–boyfriend. And, if I mention anything, you are aware of how things have gone between us. So please don’t talk about him with me. I don’t care what he does or wants.”

Stephen lowered his head and nodded. “I promise you. I will never talk about him to you. Even if it is a serious matter, I will choose to ignore his conversation with you. I am glad everything is clear now.”

Ava patted his arm and said, “I am also happy, Steph. It was all a burden to me.”

After speaking with him, Ava went to Dane.

“I see you have no time for me.”

“It is not like that,” she muttered as she held his hand.

“I was only talking to Stephen. He is my brother. After learning the truth, he was feeling guilty. I didn’t want him to feel that.”

Dane raised a brow and asked, “Why? Didn’t he make you feel the same?”

She cleared her throat, pushing a strand of hair behind her car and murmuring, “Dane, let’s forget the past. Thank you for being here to celebrate my birthday.”

He took out a box from his jacket. She was stunned. It was also a beautiful small box, similar to lan’s.

She was irritated when het inind brought fan back into her thoughts.

Ava called a maid and told her to place Stephen’s present in her room securely.

When Dane opened the box, Ava saw that a bracelet was inside. He took it out and placed the box somewhere.

Taking Ava’s hand, he put on the bracelet. Ava was amazed at how the blue stones glowed in the bracelet.

“Beautiful,” she faintly said.

Dane brought her hand to his lips and planted a kiss on the back of it.

“Not more than you.”

Ava blushed, lowering her head with a chuckle.

Her friends cleared their throats with winks. She gave them a look, telling them not to make her feel embarrassed.

When it came to dinner, Dane did not join Ava’s family. He said he had some work to do.

When Ava requested him, he said he would come another day to have dinner with her family.

Ava had dinner with her family and friends. Ian’s parents joined them as well. However, Ian’s friends left because they did not want to be there any longer after Ian left.

It was late at night.

Ava was trying to sleep on the bed, but she could not sleep.

Staring at the ceiling, she felt really uncomfortable inside.

Suddenly her wolf started to whimper inside. She sat up in surprise. She wondered if her wolf was alright. She realized it had been a while since she had shifted. So she decided to go to the forest and ran for a while. She glanced at the clock and realized it would be two hours before sunrise. It would be very late if she went out.

Nevertheless, she was a hybrid. She should not be concerned about anything.

After thinking about everything, she slipped out of her house silently.
