Don't Leave Me, Mate (by AlisTae) novel Chapter 276

276

Jan grabbed Ava’s wrist and tried to pull the box out of her alm. She let out a sarcastic laugh upon seeing his

reaction.

She threw the box on the floor in anger and growled,

If you won’t leave now, I will burn you just like your present-

He interrupted her as he started to stroke her palm, saying Are you okay?

Ava blinked as her mocking smile faded. Her eyes turned back to black, and she looked at him with bewilderment.

Didn’t he react like that because she burnt his box?

Didn’t he already know that she was a fire witch? Why did he start acting like he cares about her burning in her own fire?

She got mad at him and yanked her hand away. Stop acting, Ian. Don’t touch me again.

Ian’s eyes were still on her palm. He had not seen her holding fire before. Yesterday he saw fire but not on her palm. So it was quite shocking for him to see her hand burning. Only when he saw her hand was okay, he felt relieved.

Look at your box. I will burn it and turn it into ash. Just like how I see you in my eyes, total trash.

Ava spat whatever came to her mind. This man had given her a lot of pain. Now that he knew the truth, she would not let him go so lightly.

She had warned him before not to mess with her. She had also made an effort to conceal her identity. But this man pulled out the side that she did not want to show him.

Ian looked over and saw the box on the floor, burning. He rushed to the box and began slapping it with his palm.

His heart was burning just like the box. It was not just a box. Something very special and near to his heart was being held inside of it.

Ignoring the burning sensation in his palm, he attempted to extinguish the fire from the box. Seeing what Ava had done to his present made his heart hurt.

What are you doing?Ava asked him in confusion.

To put out the fire, Ian used both hands to hold the box.

Foolish man! This is not a normal fire to blow. That can only be blown by witches. Do you want to die?She yelled at him in rage when she noticed he was getting wounds on his hands.

Ian did not reply to her, ignoring the pain in his hands. But how could he disregard the anguish in his heart?

An intense look filled Ava’s eyes as she looked at the box. The fire ceased instantly.

Ian looked at the burnt box. It was a very costly box with nice fabric furnishings. Only the velvet burnt, and the things inside were still okay.

He did not open the box but only stared at it. His eyes reflected both pain and anger.

He was not angry at her but at himself.

Ava tilted her head to look at the box. She gritted her teeth and muttered,

Why don’t you just leave already? Why are you doing this?

She did not feel well seeing him like that. She just wanted to be away from him and her past. Why could he not understand?

He turned to face her and took a deep breath. He looked into her eyes, causing her to feel stunned.

She averted her gaze from his pained expression.

I see. You hate me a lot. Just as you should. I deserve to be bated.

Ava remained silent as she stared at the blank wall.

I hope I have not ruined your birthday again. I am sorry; I should not have brought your a present. You have everything you need in life. Even if I give you my gift, it will not make a difference.

He gazed at the burnt box, clenching his fingers around it.
