Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 682

His voice was so low and cold it felt like it came from the bottom of an icy cellar. Every word carried a sharp edge that left no room for doubt. “Watch every single person who’s had contact with Derek and Kane. Don’t let them out of your sight. Also, lock down all of Hawthorne Hall. Make sure nothing gets out.”

Conrad hung up and went straight up to the rooftop helipad. On the way, he kept seeing Wiona’s smile in his mind, playing over and over. She must be completely panicked right now. Derek and Kane were just little kids, so soft and tiny. How could they possibly handle something so cruel? And it had happened right here, in their own home, the Sullivan family’s fortress—the one place where they were supposed to be safe.

Anger kept building hotter and hotter in his chest, until it burned behind his eyes and turned them red. Who was it? Who would dare to lay a finger on his son?

He ran through every possible enemy in his mind. It didn’t matter who it was. He would find them and make sure they paid, no matter what it took. Anyone who hurt his son, who hurt his family, would pay a price they could never crawl back from.

At Hawthorne Hall, the staff was already on alert.

“Mr. Sullivan is back,” someone announced.

Conrad’s helicopter landed right on the main lawn. He climbed out quickly, barely pausing before heading toward the house. Phil was still busy interrogating Ada, so only Shelly and a few others came rushing out to meet him.

“Sir, Mrs. Sullivan is in the east parlor,” Shelly said, her voice barely steady.

“How is she?” Conrad asked. His presence was so intense today that Shelly couldn’t even look him in the eye. She tried to keep her voice from shaking. “Sir, both Mrs. Sullivans were really upset earlier, but they’ve calmed down a lot now. I think Mr. Blue and Ms. Morgan already finished diagnosing Derek.”

So they’d already figured out what was wrong?

Conrad hurried straight to the east parlor.

“Wiona,” he called quietly.

Madison chimed in, “We can come by every day to give Derek massages and the antidote. With a couple doses, he should recover. Wiona, don’t worry. We’re here for you.”

Wiona’s eyes filled with tears again as she nodded. “Thank you, Madison. Thank you, Tatum. If you hadn’t found out in time, I would’ve just blamed the nannies for the spit-up and never realized what was really wrong. Derek could’ve been hurt forever. You really saved him.”

Madison squeezed her hand, her voice gentle. “You’re not alone. We’re here, okay? Try not to worry so much. Look at you—your eyebrows are all scrunched up. If Derek feels how anxious you are, he’ll get upset too. You have to take care of yourself now that you’re a mom.”

Hearing Madison’s soothing words, Wiona finally started to relax. Now that she knew Derek would be alright, she stopped clutching him so tightly. After what happened, it was hard to trust anyone, but now that Conrad was back, she let him hold their son.

Conrad cradled Derek, feeling how small and light he was. He frowned, heart aching with worry. He glanced over at Annette, who was holding Kane.

“Did anyone check Kane? The same people took care of both boys. Is there any chance he was poisoned too, just not as badly?”
