Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 681

Madison rushed over, eyes scanning Derek from head to toe. Tatum gently wrapped his fingers around the baby’s tiny wrist, feeling for a pulse. The two of them checked Derek carefully, not missing a single detail. Even though the little guy was still waving his arms and legs, it was clear his movements weren’t as strong or lively as his brother’s.

Wiona’s eyes were teary and red. She bit down on her lower lip, as if the sting was the only thing keeping her together. The whole room felt frozen in place. The only sounds were the soft babbles from the twins.

For some in the room, that silence was torture. Ada, the nannies, and a few maids stood rooted in place, faces pale, nerves on edge, completely overwhelmed by what was happening.

How could this be real? Poisoned? That couldn’t be! If it was true, this wasn’t just about getting scolded for missing something. This was criminal. If the Sullivan family dug into it and found out the truth, they’d all be in serious trouble. Maybe even jail time.

Ada’s fear took over as she watched the two young doctors, their faces growing more serious by the second. She couldn’t stand it anymore.

“Isn’t this all just a misunderstanding?” she blurted out, voice shaky. “It’s true, we missed writing down his reflux. That was our mistake. But poison? Why would we ever hurt Derek? We’ve been taking care of the boys since they were tiny. We love them. We’d never do something like this. And we know our jobs—we’d never break the law. Maybe he’s just tired from spitting up so much lately, and that’s why he looks a little pale…”

The other maids jumped in, voices trembling.

“That’s right, ma’am, this isn’t possible!”

“Derek’s with us every day. How could he be poisoned?”

“How can those two just accuse us like that? They must be wrong!”

“Why should we believe them just because they say so? Please, ma’am, you need to trust us.”

“Dr. Lee, you’re the expert. Are you really letting them talk like this?”

“This has nothing to do with us…”

The more Wiona listened, the angrier she got. She couldn’t take it anymore. She spun around and shouted, “All of you, be quiet!”

Hawthorne Hall was thick with tension.

Meanwhile, across the city, Conrad was in the middle of an international conference when his phone buzzed with a message from Phil.

[Sir, there’s an emergency at home. Derek has been poisoned. All the nannies are being held for questioning. Both your wife and your mother are furious. Please come back immediately.]

Conrad’s hand tightened around his phone, knuckles turning white. The words struck him like icy needles.

Even though the meeting was still going, Conrad didn’t hesitate. He stood up, voice steady but cold. “Sorry, I have an urgent family matter. This meeting is postponed. If there is any losses, I’ll take full responsibility.”

Without waiting for a response, he strode out. Korey hurried after him, about to remind him how important this meeting was, but Conrad shot him a look that stopped him cold.

“Get the helicopter ready. Now.” Conrad was already dialing Phil as he walked away.
