“How did everything end up like this…” Nicholas stepped up, trying to calm Bronwen down. “Bronwen, are you okay? Maybe he kept it from you too. You need to think clearly. If he really pushed Cassian and poisoned the flowers, I think you should just stay out of it.”
Bronwen ignored him. She scrambled up, glaring at Wiona, her anger overflowing. “Wiona, I regret ever taking you in as my student. I regret it so much, sometimes I wish I could strangle you myself.”
She lunged at Wiona, hands curled like claws, but before she could get close, a tall man in black stepped out from behind Wiona and grabbed Bronwen’s wrist. His grip was strong and his voice was icy. “Careful. If you lay one finger on her today, you and your husband will both end up in prison, and you’ll never get out.”
Conrad let go, shoving Bronwen back. She stumbled, nearly falling, and stared at him in shock. Was this really just a bodyguard? He felt so much more intimidating. Those eyes were cold as steel, making Bronwen shiver inside.
Nicholas and the others hurried over to steady her. “Bronwen, you’re not thinking straight,” Nicholas pleaded. “Even after all this, you’re still defending Wilson? When will you see the truth?”
Bronwen pushed them away, her glare still locked on Wiona. She was convinced Wiona was the one who ruined her life. “Wiona, you’re heartless. Wilson is your own father, and you still want him arrested. You just want revenge on me, don’t you? You want to tear my family apart until we’re nothing.”
Wiona let out a cold laugh. “I’m heartless? Wasn’t he heartless when he tried to kill Cassianf? Wasn’t he heartless when he poisoned the flowers to finish the job? Bronwen, I never thought you’d twist things so much, ignoring right and wrong just to protect him.”
Summer, standing behind Wiona, nodded so hard her hair bounced. “Bronwen, does my dad’s life mean nothing to you and that monster? You’re just as bad as your husband. You’re protecting a criminal.”
Wiona turned and gave Summer a thumbs-up. Summer grinned, holding her head high, proud of herself.
Bronwen was shaking with fury, every word stinging. “Cassian himself isn’t even making a fuss, but you two keep pushing this. Fine. Wiona, maybe I can’t do anything to you, but don’t forget, the title ‘W’ was my gift to you. Just wait, you’ll lose everything soon enough.”
