Chapter 35
Calista looked at Lucien pleadingly and said, “My abdomen hurts so much, and I’m not in the mood. I need to boil some water and take the medicine. I’ll do whatever you want when I feel better, okay?”
She looked genuinely frail. Her delicate cheeks were so pale that they were devoid of color, and the tears in her eyes seemed ready to fall at any moment.
Lucien nonchalantly brushed the strands of hair that fell on her shoulder.
Calista had been taken when she was a child. The Marchand family resented her, and she lacked the proper upbringing and competence to be his wife.
That said, Lucien had to admit that she was gorgeous. It wouldn’t have been an exaggeration to call her one of the three most beautiful ladies in Dorcan’s high society.
“I helped you with Anthony’s mess.”
“Is this a deal?”
“Cali, you’ve gotten smarter.”
She lowered her gaze gloomily. “I hope you’ll keep your promises.”
In the past, Lucien never had to bring such things up because Calista had always initiated such intimate moments. She just loved him too much. From the moment she set foot into the Fenwick estate, it was love at first sight.
She became so obsessed with him that it eventually became unhealthy. It reached a point where she wanted to be the only thing that mattered in his world. No matter what he asked, she did it without any hesitation.
After all, Calista had done it countless times. But it wasn’t until that night that it felt like she was just there to fulfill his desires.
Half an hour later, she ran to the bathroom on the first floor. After she closed the door, she vomited violently. She hadn’t eaten much that day, so it was all bile–tinged with traces of blood.
Another surge of pain shot through her abdomen once more. She flushed the contents down the drain, clutched her chest, and collapsed against the toilet lid, her face instantly turning pale.
Calista wasn’t sure how much time had passed, but she eventually regained some of her strength. When she returned to the living room, the man sitting on the couch was already long gone.
