Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2153

Elsa’s eyes sparkled with delight. She knew exactly why Athena had left—it was all because of the message she’d sent.

She had told Athena that, back in high school, Kerwin had actually written her a letter. It was right after final exams were over, and Kerwin had something urgent to take care of. He asked a classmate to deliver the letter to Athena, but after passing through several hands, it somehow ended up with Elsa. Consumed by jealousy, Elsa had carelessly handed the letter to one of their teachers.

Back then, every student had a personal file—an envelope where teachers would seal away each student’s records. Years later, if anyone wanted theirs, the teacher could dig it up from storage.

So, most likely, the letter Kerwin wrote was tucked away in Athena’s file, gathering dust all these years.

Elsa just hinted at this to Athena, dangling the information in front of her. She added, “If you’re willing to go down the hill, I’ll tell you about something else Kerwin left behind.”

Not that Elsa was actually hiding anything. Besides that letter, Kerwin hadn’t left anything else for Athena in high school.

Elsa had always assumed Athena had moved on—especially now that she’d snagged Tyler. Surely, she thought, Athena had long forgotten Kerwin. But to her surprise, Athena actually left to go retrieve Kerwin’s letter?

What was that girl thinking?

A thrill of excitement flickered in Elsa’s eyes. If she told Tyler about this, would he lose his temper? Would Athena be finished? Men like Tyler—wealthy, possessive men—hated it when their little “canary” had her heart set on someone else.

Twisting the stem of her wine glass between her fingers, Elsa let a sly smile curl her lips.

“Tyler, I know why she left,” she said, voice silky with implication. “She’s probably gone looking for some old love letter. Yesterday, one of our teachers messaged the group chat saying our old high school files were still stored away, and if anyone wanted theirs, they could come and get them. Apparently, Athena’s high school sweetheart left her a letter in there, and I bet that’s why she was in such a hurry to leave.”

Tyler stared into his own glass, then dismissed the idea almost instantly. “She’s been fawning over me for so long—I know better than anyone who she cares about.”

Of course, it was him.

But if she was so desperate to get her hands on this letter, why didn’t she just drive?

Elsa didn’t dare admit she’d encouraged Athena to walk, so she quickly changed the subject. “You might not know this, but Athena used to be crazy about that guy—she’d have risked her life for him. I really think you should look into her past a bit more, Tyler, just to be safe.”

Tyler couldn’t have cared less. As long as Athena was “clean” and willing to share his bed, he didn’t give a damn who else had been on her mind. Still, her outburst yesterday had caught him off guard.
