Tyler had long noticed how much Athena adored the little mole on the tip of his nose. The first time they'd been intimate, she'd kissed it, and every time since, her fingers would trail over it with such affection.
People have their quirks in bed—some like kissing on the lips, others on the neck. Perhaps Athena was unique in her attraction to men with moles on their noses.
A smug grin flashed across his face. Maybe his looks just happened to tick all her boxes.
"Do you really like it?" he asked, playful curiosity in his eyes.
"I do," Athena replied, her voice unwavering.
It wasn't the first time he'd asked, and she always answered the same way.
With that, Tyler playfully pinned her down, and what came next felt like second nature.
By the time they were done, it was the early hours of the morning. He kissed her softly on the lips before drifting off to sleep.
Athena picked up her phone and noticed a friend request from Bert. She accepted it.
The next morning, when she woke up, Tyler was already gone. She got up to make herself some breakfast, only to find she'd been added to a group chat by Bert. The conversation was buzzing.
"Seen guys act like lovesick puppies, but never a girl doing it this hard."
"What did you do to her, Tyler? Got her hooked on something?"
"Must be tricky, right? Sticking with one woman all the time. Aren't you bored yet? Especially you, Tyler—you never keep anyone around for more than three months."
"I swear, Athena's just desperate. She's not as pretty as the others and clings on for dear life."
"I'll bet a grand Tyler won't be tied down by her."
The chat was buzzing with bets when, suddenly, Athena was removed from the group.
Bert sent her a private message.
"Sorry, added you by mistake."
Bert was a bit anxious. He genuinely wanted to be friends with Athena but had indeed added her to the wrong group.
Hopefully, Athena hadn't seen too much of that conversation.
Athena looked at her phone, thought for a moment, and sent a simple thumbs-up emoji.
Bert exhaled in relief. If she'd seen anything, she wouldn't be so calm, right?
Putting her phone down, Athena continued making her breakfast. As she finished eating, she noticed a new headline: Tyler's latest fling with a top actress was trending number one.
She scrolled through the article, feeling a wave of indifference.
After washing up, she retreated to her bedroom. The room's decor matched the living room, save for a photo frame on her vanity. It held a picture of her and another young man.
The boy in the photo was full of life, smiling broadly with a few teeth showing as he held her close.
Athena's fingers traced over the photo, landing on the boy's nose, where a similar mole was nestled. Just like Tyler's.
In the past, he would always ask her, "Isn't this mole just perfect? Athena, feel it."
He'd pull her hand to it, pressing her fingertips against the little mark.
It was a beautiful mole, making her fingertips tingle. When she looked up, she'd be met with his eyes, sparkling with laughter.
"Nice, right? My mom says this mole means I'll have lots of admirers."
She'd pull her hand back, feeling flushed.
