Tyler took a slow drag from his cigarette, watching her for about ten minutes before realizing she was still standing there, lost in thought.
He drove his car over slowly and stopped right in front of her.
Athena seemed to snap back to reality and gave him a smile.
"I thought you'd left."
"Hop in."
She immediately opened the passenger door and got in.
Even with the car windows down, she could catch a faint whiff of smoke.
"Have you been smoking?"
"Does it bother you?"
Many women didn't like men who smoked, but Athena rarely showed interest in anything other than him.
The thought made him frown slightly. After dropping her off at her place, he suddenly felt like staying over.
Athena naturally asked, "Want to come up for a bit?"
Tyler was easily tempted and opened the car door promptly.
He'd been to her place before, and it smelled just as homey as ever.
Sinking into the couch, Athena reheated some leftover soup and placed it next to him.
Tyler didn't ask any questions and drank it. Leaning back, he beckoned, "Come here."
Athena moved closer, leaning in, and caught a lingering scent of another woman's perfume on him.
He tried to pull her into his arms, but for once, Athena backed away slightly.
"Go wash up first."
Tyler raised an eyebrow, sniffing his sleeve, which indeed smelled of a perfume that wasn't hers.
"Are you turning me away?"
Athena said nothing, so he got up. "I'll use your bedroom bathroom."
"There's one in the guest room. I don't like anyone using my personal bathroom."
Athena was usually easygoing with him, so this was the first time she'd refused him.
His eyes narrowed as he glanced at the closed bedroom door.
It was always like this, closed and mysterious, and he grew more curious about what was inside that she so carefully kept hidden.
With a playful smirk, he challenged, "Alright, then join me."
Athena didn't refuse this time. Over the years, she'd made enough money as a celebrity to afford a spacious guest bathroom.
