Cross My Tigress Face the Wrath (Stella) novel Chapter 674

She didn’t even have the strength to say anything more on the phone; she just hung up right then and there.

“You heard that, right? She’s not only bringing a whole squad, but they’re packing, too,” Shawn said, eyes wide.

“What the heck happened after we left?” Xander asked, bewildered.

Honestly, none of them knew what had gone down after they split last night, but whatever it was, it had Yvonne convinced it was all Dan’s fault.

Shawn gave Xander a look. “You saw how the Wicked Witch Yvonne reacted to last night. She’s out for blood.” He ran a finger dramatically across his throat in a classic ‘you’re dead’ gesture.

Xander’s bravado faded fast. He’d been all set to go talk things out with Yvonne, but now? Not so much. His expression was like someone who’d just swallowed a live cricket.

Shawn noticed and jumped in before Xander could say something dumb. “Hey, man, I get it. It sucks to bail like that—it’s a hit to the ego.”

Ashley came out and snagged Xander by the arm. “Seriously, nobody said being a man means you have to die for your pride. Sometimes you gotta know when to cut and run.”

Shawn nodded like his head was about to fall off. “Exactly! Screw pride. You can’t enjoy a steak dinner if you’re six feet under.”

“If this were any other woman, maybe you’d have to step up and do the responsible thing. But Yvonne? She doesn’t want responsibility—she wants revenge,” Ashley added.

Lott chimed in, “Yeah, between dignity and staying alive, I know what I’m choosing.”

Xander clutched his chest. “You all think I’m scared of dying?”

Shawn, Ashley, and Lott answered in perfect unison, “We are.”

They didn’t even try to hide it. They were scared out of their minds.

Xander was speechless.

Shawn shook his head. “This isn’t a joke. She said she’s got a whole crew hunting for Dan. If Yvonne finds out how many people got dragged into her drama, she’ll take us all down.”

So just like that, Yvonne and Xander’s mess descended into total chaos.

...

Silas just sighed, clearly at a loss for words. “Get out. Now.”

He knew if Barnaby kept talking, Hull would lose it. He gestured for Barnaby to get lost, and fast.

Susanna tried to shift, but pain shot through her legs and all over her body. She gasped.

Outside, Hull heard the small whimper from the bedroom. He glanced at Silas, who was patching him up. Silas heard it too and quickly finished taping up the wound. “All done,” he said, not even bothering to clean up the supplies before making a speedy exit. “Uh, I just remembered something I need to do—gotta run!”

At the door, Hull said coldly, “And while you’re at it, go tape Barnaby’s mouth shut.”

Silas shivered. He definitely felt a little sorry for Barnaby—Hull’s patience for his big mouth had finally run out.

Once Silas was gone, Hull walked to Susanna’s room, pushed open the door, and flicked on the light. He found Susanna staring up at him with big, watery eyes.

For a moment, she froze. Then she whimpered, voice trembling, “It hurts so much.”
