Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 703

The last sentence was delivered in a very deliberate manner, as if Jonathan had arranged it.

He guessed she would refuse to attend but still wanted to convey some information, hoping she would be there.

Thinking this, Charlotte raised her hand and took the invitation. "Alright, I will attend."

"Then I won't disturb you any longer." The man bowed, returned to his car, and quickly drove away.

Foster watched the car leave, then looked down at the invitation in her hand. "What does Young Master Pembroke mean by this? He deliberately covered up Miss Easter's suicide, and now he's deliberately delivering this invitation just to provoke people. Why did you actually agree to go?"

Charlotte's fingers gently traced the gilded edge of the invitation. "This engagement banquet is likely to be much more eventful than we think."

It was New Year's Eve. Charlotte and Hiram were having dinner at home. During the meal, Hiram received many phone calls, but he didn't answer a single one.

Seeing this, Charlotte smiled helplessly. "It's New Year's Eve. Your friends are inviting you out, aren't you going?"

"They're not really friends, just colleagues. Probably the usual dinner gathering, nothing new. I won't go."

Charlotte looked at him. "You still need to maintain good relationships with your colleagues. Your career is just starting to take off, you'll need to interact with them a lot in the future."

"Lottie, since you got pregnant, you've started nagging just like Mom..." Hiram muttered, biting his chopsticks.

Charlotte was taken aback. "Have I?"

"Yes, definitely."

Charlotte lowered her head and smiled wryly, reaching out to pick up a piece of his favorite spare rib and put it in his bowl. "Alright, I'm being a nag. You know what you're doing."

Hiram took a bite of the spare rib and mumbled, "Lottie, actually, I stayed because I wanted to be with you. You'll be going back home soon, and I don't know when I'll see you again."

Charlotte's hand, holding her chopsticks, paused. She looked up at Hiram. The warm yellow light fell on the young man's relaxed brows. His eyes held a reluctance to part. Her heart warmed, and she smiled, a curve at the corner of her lips. "Alright then, thank you for staying tonight to keep me company."

"Boom!"
