Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 468

After getting off the elevator, Lilith clung to Charlotte’s arm. “So, cuz, this is my first time in Riverspire City, and I don’t know a soul. You’re the only person I have, so you can’t abandon me, okay?”

Charlotte sighed. “Don’t worry, I won’t abandon you.”

“You’re the best!” Lilith beamed, linking her arm through Charlotte’s.

Charlotte gave her a strange look. One minute she was on the verge of tears, and the next she was grinning from ear to ear.

She left Lilith in her office and went to the consulting room. Judd was already with a patient. He glanced up at her briefly before turning his attention back to writing a prescription. Once the patient left, she took her seat beside him.

“Something so terrible happens to the Howard family, and yet the Sutherlands’ precious daughter runs off to Riverspire City to find you?”

Charlotte paused, not thinking much of it. “Maybe she just needed to get away, and she didn’t know where else to go.”

Judd turned to look at her. “Do you really believe Evander is dead?”

Charlotte froze.

To be honest, she still couldn’t believe it. A part of her desperately hoped he was still alive, but she had seen the explosion with her own eyes.

Seeing her hesitation, Judd knew her answer. “He might not be dead.”

Charlotte was stunned. “How do you know?”

“He knew everything that was going to happen on that yacht. Do you really think a man like that would let himself die so recklessly?”

Judd’s words sent a jolt through her. It was true. From the moment they boarded, Evander had seemed to be one step ahead.

So, he really could be alive. Was the man she saw yesterday really him?

Judd watched as a flicker of hope returned to her eyes, and his own expression darkened. If he could, he would have let her believe Evander was gone forever. It would have given him a chance.

But he couldn’t be that selfish.
