Seeing that her sister seemed barely interested, Cynthia grew anxious and hurried to explain.
“Juliet, this project needs very little up-front investment, and the returns will be stable later on. The Tremaines have a few commercial buildings just sitting there, right? If we developed them, I’m sure they’d turn out even better than that shop on Sycamore Lane.”
“I’ve already brought up a partnership with Mr. Holloway, but since I’m working at Holloway Enterprises now, it doesn’t really feel right for me to negotiate the profit split.”
Juliet gave a noncommittal “mm” and asked in an even tone, “When you mentioned it to him, what did he say?”
Remembering the look on Dominic’s face at the time, Cynthia lowered her voice. “He called me a corporate spy.”
Juliet’s brows arched in amusement. “Just focus on handling the VistaSphere Group project. Don’t worry about Tremaine Holdings for now. In the workplace, the last thing you want is to split your attention. I suppose he was a bit annoyed, which is probably why he said that.”
Cynthia recalled how Dominic had lapsed into silence and refused to speak to her after that exchange. She nodded slightly.
He was definitely upset.
She hadn’t meant to irritate him—but her sister’s health wasn’t great, and if she found a project that could help Tremaine Holdings, she’d fight for it.
Juliet flipped through the documents in front of her, her tone light. “Dominic already discussed this project with me a while ago. In fact, Tremaine Holdings has been in touch with the game designer for some time now.”
Surprise flickered in Cynthia’s eyes. “You’ve already reached out to the designer?”
Dominic really could keep a secret. She’d practically buttered him up, and he hadn’t let a single word slip.
Juliet nodded.
Cynthia pressed on, “So how are the profits going to be split?”
Juliet said calmly, “There’s no split. All proceeds go to Tremaine Holdings.”
“This is what I won yesterday—ten million. It’s not much compared to Tremaine Holdings’ debts, just a drop in the bucket, but it should help a little. Take it, please.”
Juliet didn’t refuse; she simply put the card away.
“Thank you.”
She hadn’t touched the funds from the last card Cynthia had given her. In the past few weeks, with Dominic’s help, Tremaine Holdings had already sold off most of its unused properties. The company could finally breathe a little easier.
Juliet felt confident about this new direction for the company. She truly believed it wouldn’t be long before Tremaine Holdings pulled itself out of this crisis entirely. And if they could get a little outside help, regaining their former standing wasn’t out of reach.
Juliet looked up at Cynthia, her gaze suddenly intense.
“Pumpkin,” she said softly, “if you had to sacrifice your own marriage to guarantee Tremaine Holdings a brilliant future, would you do it?”
