Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 324

“No, thank you.”

The young man frowned, glancing up at Dominic with visible unease before turning to Cynthia and speaking carefully.

“Wait, you said he’s not your boyfriend, right? So why are you so afraid of him? Even if he were, he can’t stop you from making friends, can he?”

To Cynthia, the boy’s tone dripped with insincerity—a little too eager, a little too sweet. The kind of sweetness that left a bitter aftertaste.

She’d never had much of a taste for that.

“Sorry,” she replied coolly, “We only met for the first time today. I wouldn’t say we’re friends.”

The young man looked hurt. “I just wanted to talk to you about that secret level in the game. You seemed interested, so I thought we might be kindred spirits.”

“Thanks,” Cynthia said, her voice even. “But I prefer figuring things out on my own.”

She paused, glancing over at Dominic, then continued,

“Besides, if I really wanted someone to walk me through the game, I’m sure I could find someone to dig up all the details for me. Heck, if I wanted, I could probably get the game’s designer to come explain it in person.”

Dominic’s eyes flicked over her, a hint of amusement in his raised eyebrow, but he said nothing and started walking toward the exit.

Cynthia felt the tension in the air dissipate as Dominic moved away, and she followed, steps light and relieved.

She’d dropped more than enough hints for him.

Surely Dominic would catch her meaning.

What she truly wanted now was to meet the designer behind this game.

Those vacant commercial buildings under The Tremaines’ name might finally have a purpose.

If this project could be developed steadily, there was a real chance it could breathe new life into The Tremaines’ properties.

They were just sitting empty anyway—might as well take a gamble and see if she could turn things around.

After leaving Indoor Survival, Cynthia followed Dominic to the car and climbed in after him.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have brought her here, wouldn’t have given her this idea.

Dominic knew all about The Tremaines’ current situation—he even knew exactly how many vacant buildings they had.

A project like this, with low initial investment and stable long-term returns, was exactly what The Tremaines needed right now. It was a lifeline when they were sinking.

Dominic’s gaze lingered on Cynthia. She looked back at him, her eyes clear and bright, gratitude shining beneath her calm expression. His own eyes darkened slightly.

She understood?

“Don’t be so quick to give yourself credit,” he said quietly. “You’re not as clever as you think.”

She really hadn’t figured it out at all.

Seeing the confusion on her face, Dominic’s chest rose and fell—perhaps in annoyance, perhaps in resignation. Rather than let her frustrate him further, he simply closed his eyes and addressed the driver.

“Take her back to The Tremaines.”
