Burn Me Once Burn With Me (Ruby Grayson) novel Chapter 649

The room fell silent. Even the old woman, whose attention had been entirely on Mira, turned to look at him.

As someone who often commissioned private jewelry, she was certainly familiar with the name.

The old woman sized him up, noting his composed aura and the subtle signs of experience on his face. Though he lacked the deep lines one might expect of a middle-aged man, the weight of his presence was undeniable.

Cassian had already known Garrison's identity, so he didn't share the others' surprise. Instead, his eyes narrowed, and he clenched his jaw.

“Travis?”

Ruby murmured the name, looking at Garrison with surprise.

Travis, Townsend… she should have realized it sooner. No wonder the two were always together—they were brothers.

“It’s been a long time since I used that name. After retiring from the industry, Townsend and I decided one would take our father’s surname, and the other our mother’s.”

Garrison looked at Ruby apologetically as he explained, “Please don’t be upset that I kept it from you.”

Ruby slowly shook her head.

What name he chose to use was his private matter; she had no reason to blame him for it.

“Are there any other questions about the brooch’s origins?” Garrison smiled faintly. He appeared easygoing, but the slight curve of his lips carried a hint of threat in the silent room. “Since I’m here, I can help clear up any confusion.”

Though he didn't look at Monica Ashley, everyone in the room knew who his words were for.

Monica’s face flushed with humiliation, but standing before the real Travis, she didn't dare utter another word of doubt.

The old woman was about to smooth things over when another voice cut in.

“So that’s why you kept your identity hidden. All for this moment?”

Cassian spoke abruptly, his voice laced with a cold, sardonic edge.

Garrison raised an eyebrow and met a pair of deep, icy eyes.

Ruby frowned. Cassian's remark was dripping with sarcasm.

The old woman also immediately sensed the palpable hostility radiating from Cassian.

“Alright now, Monica was just concerned for me. I hope you won’t take it to heart, Mr. Caldwell. And since you’re here, I hope you’ll do an old woman the honor of staying for my birthday dinner.”
