Chapter 817: Did she push you?

Emily turned to look and paused. This wasn’t her first time seeing Aiden, but there was something about his looks that charmed her all over again. She couldn’t bring herself to look away.

Aiden’s gaze, however, never left Arwen. He walked to her, taking long strides as though he couldn’t bear to stay apart from her for another second.

"What are you doing here?" Arwen asked when he came and stood in front of her, looking her from head to toe as though making sure she was alright. "Weren’t you supposed to be at the company?"

"I was always supposed to be with you," he said before gently pushing her back to sit comfortably on the couch. "And may I ask why you have been standing when you could actually sit?"

Arwen stared at him and pursed her lips. "If you keep on frowning like this over every little thing, you might end up looking older than Grandpa." She reached and brushed her finger over his forehead, trying to ease the evident creases. "And I can’t keep sitting all the time. That’s why I got up to stretch myself."

Although she said it like that, Aiden still didn’t look convinced. His gaze darted to look down at her feet, only to frown seeing them swollen.

This was one of the reasons why he had rushed here. He knew she would realize it until the night.

Looking up, he pursed his lips. "Your feet are already swollen."

"Really? Is it?" Arwen blinked before glancing down at her feet. "Oh, I didn’t feel anything. Trust me."

Aiden didn’t say anything. He just kneeled in front of her and slowly unbuckled her block heels.

"Wait," she gasped, trying to pull away her legs. But he held her firm. "We aren’t alone, Ide. There are people around. What will they say?"

"Your feet need a massage," he said, and then slowly moved his fingers to press skillfully on the points that would instantly make her feel better.

The attendants around were all in awe. They all stopped and watched, slowly whispering among themselves.

"Aww, can someone pinch me? How can a man be this handsome yet so caring?"

"I have never seen a man this doting towards his wife. Are all rich men like this?"

Another one clicked her tongue once. "I don’t think so. Women from wealthy families are most dissatisfied with their marriages. If their husbands were like him, why would they be so upset?"

"This lady is truly lucky. Just by the way her husband looks at her could make anyone envious."

Emily heard all these whispers, and her fingers only tightened. Just now, she was mocking Arwen, telling her how her husband would run away at the sight of her ugly face. But little did she expect that right after she said that, she would have to eat her own words.

’No,’ she muttered to herself. ’I can’t believe any man could still love a woman in such an ugly state. It must be merely for show.’ Her assumption eased her a little, but at the same time, the urge to prove it right simmered inside her.

Her gaze darted to look at Arwen, and she smirked. Arwen had the looks that she could never match. But right now, all her charms seemed dull behind her grown weight and clear chubbiness. And that was only a boost to her confidence.

’Blame yourself, Arwen," she whispered to herself internally, shaking her head. "If you hadn’t snatched my opportunity to outshine you that night, I would have considered not snatching your husband today. But too bad you deserve ever retribution for making me a laughingstock.’

Arwen’s instinct made her react to Emily’s gaze, and she turned to glance her way, only to notice her smirk and eyes glinting with something. Her brows furrowed, but she couldn’t guess what she was upto until she saw her turning to look Aiden’s way.

"Mr. Winslow," Emily called coquettishly, "I am Emily, Arwen’s cousin. I have seen you before, but I didn’t get a chance to properly introduce myself to you."

Aiden heard that, but he didn’t turn to even look at her. His eyes remained at Arwen’s feet as he slowly massaged them.
