Aiden wanted to ask her, but he couldn’t, knowing how impossible it was for her to recover those memories.

"What?" Arwen probed when he paused in the middle of his words. Her eyes searched his. "If you don’t finish the question, how would I know what I have to answer?"

Aiden stared at her for a moment before he shook his head. "It’s nothing," he said as his gaze flicked to the clock deliberately. "It’s getting late. I should go and freshen up since you are done."

And with that, he took a step past her. However, just when he would have walked away, she held his arm, stopping him. She didn’t pull him back to face her, nor did she turn to look at him. With her back still towards him, she simply gave him the answer to his unfinished question.

"I came up with this name way back when we knew each other. Why are you asking me about it now? Did you not remember how I came up with this name?"

Aiden’s head snapped towards her, his brows furrowing. She turned to look at him and smiled, "Did it feel new to you?"

"You ... you remembered?"

"Do you want me to remember?" she asked, turning to face him better. "If you do, then why aren’t you letting me?"

His hand sought out to grab her by her shoulders. "Because it’s dangerous, Moon. It’s dangerous for you to think about the past you have forgotten. It can make me lose you ... forever."

Arwen felt the sheer panic in his voice. Her expression shifted to that of concern before she reached out to cup his cheek to reassure him. "Calm down, Ide. I didn’t do anything dangerous." She shook her head and continued, "I didn’t try to remember anything. I am still here, all fine —and you aren’t losing me. So, calm down. Breathe."

Aiden stared at her. His breathing is a little ragged. After he calmed a little, he asked, "Then how did you remember this name?"

She looked at him, her gaze growing tender at him. "I heard it in my dream. Not once, but several times."

"In your dream?" Aiden asked, his eyes narrowing.

And she nodded, replying, "I am getting snippets of our memories together for a long time now. Every time a new one. So, even without recovering the memories, I know a lot that I have forgotten."

"..." Aiden didn’t know what he should say to this. She was getting the dreams. Since when?

"At first, I was confused, not understanding who I was seeing. Your image was initially vague, but it started to clear up slowly. And then I realized it was always you."

She told him, and he watched her, his thoughts spiralling somewhere else.

"What are you thinking now?" she asked when she felt that he wasn’t there with her.

Aiden looked at her, his brows still furrowed. "We need to talk to Jason regarding this. Let’s go." And he grabbed her hand, ready to take her then itself.

But Arwen held him back. "Wait," she made him stop. "What do we need to talk about? It was just in the dreams. And —"

"No, we can’t take a risk on it. We need to be sure if this poses any threat to you," he said, and Arwen pursed her lips.

She reached and covered the back of his hand with hers and said, "That’s not needed. I am telling you."
