Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 70

They put away the chess set, deciding to call it a day. Grandfather and grandson left the study together and headed downstairs.

Evelyn, chatting with Grandmother in the living room, was the first to spot them. She beamed and called out cheerfully, "Grandpa! Beasley!"

"Eve, you're here! Have you had lunch?" The old man's face lit up instantly when he saw Evelyn. Even the chill Beasley had left in his heart seemed to melt away.

"I ate before I came, Grandpa. Mom and Dad will join you and Grandma for dinner tonight, too," she replied, stepping forward to support her grandfather as he came down the last few stairs, her sweet smile as warm as ever.

Compared to his taciturn, aloof grandson, the old man much preferred his affectionate, quick-witted granddaughter.

Just as the three reached the living room and hadn't even sat down, footsteps sounded on the stairs. Another family member was coming down.

It was Vincent.

"Uncle Vincent!" Evelyn greeted him first, her voice as bright as ever.

"Eve, you're here?" Vincent's usually stern, handsome features softened into a rare, gentle smile.

Grandmother chimed in at just the right moment, "Eve arrived half an hour ago. But Willow—she's not only late, she hasn't even bothered to call."

Evelyn glanced instinctively at her brother, Beasley, to see his reaction.

Beasley's face was unreadable, betraying neither irritation nor concern, as if Willow's absence was none of his business.

Evelyn relaxed. Her brother was the same as ever—uninterested in anything to do with that woman.

Vincent, however, spoke up in Willow's defense. "Mom, Willa's been locked away working on her new project. She probably doesn't even know you two are back yet."

Vincent knew, thanks to his wife, that Beasley and Willa had signed a confidentiality agreement. He couldn't bring up their divorce, even if he wanted to.
