Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 69

Evelyn's thoughts were simple: the old lady could easily keep Willow in check. But if this remedy actually worked, wouldn't that mean Willow would benefit from it? No way was Evelyn going to let something so good fall into Willow's lap.

She wasn't about to do any favors for that woman.

But if the old lady tried to go through her brother, it would only tip him off. He'd get suspicious, and the whole plan would fall apart.

"This remedy is meant for women. There's no need for your brother to know. When Willow comes over for dinner tonight, I'll find a chance to give it to her," the old lady said, brushing aside Evelyn's suggestion.

Evelyn wasn't discouraged. Now that she knew what was going on, she could just warn her brother herself.

As long as her brother was in the loop, there was no way that woman Willow could get her way.

Upstairs in the study.

"You lost again. What's going on with you?" Jameson shot a disapproving glance at his grandson.

They'd played three games of chess, and Beasley had lost every single one—by the narrowest of margins, too. Not even one piece more than necessary.

"If I actually won, Grandpa, wouldn't that hurt your pride?" Beasley replied with a calm smile, looking completely unbothered by the idea of his grandfather flipping the table.

Jameson was both amused and exasperated. "You always make sure I win by just a pawn. Does that really make me look good?"

Beasley, still unruffled, insisted, "Well, I can't lose too badly, either."

Jameson just sighed in defeat.

He was starting to regret insisting his grandson play chess with him.

Winning like this was even more annoying than losing outright.

"Another game?" Beasley asked.

"No, that's enough." Jameson started gathering up the chess pieces.
