Their empire, built on manipulation and power, collapsed rapidly, leaving their feared name tarnished across the United Factions. In the aftermath, the narrator and Tyson discussed converting the Trevanes’ businesses into community centers to avoid displacing anyone, but despite the apparent victory, the narrator felt an emptiness inside.

In the narrator’s new office, a grand house formerly owned by the Trevanes, Tyson noticed the narrator’s distant mood and lack of enthusiasm. The narrator was haunted by the absence of Luna, the one person they wanted to share this moment with. The beauty of the garden and the sunlight streaming through the windows only deepened the sense of loss, as the narrator reflected on how much Luna would have loved it.

The mood shifted when Tessa, Rowan, Cade, and Arden unexpectedly arrived with a celebration, congratulating the narrator on securing a title. Despite their joyful efforts, the narrator struggled to smile genuinely, weighed down by sorrow. When asked if they were okay, the narrator admitted to feeling overwhelmed, especially as the date circled on the calendar marked Luna’s due date, a painful reminder of what was lost.

Chapter 391: The Tears Begin to Fall

The complete ruin of the Trevanes was undeniable. Their once-feared name now reverberated through the corridors of the United Factions like a dark curse. Within just a week, every secret transaction, every covert deal, every bribe they had ever orchestrated was uncovered and exposed.

The flood of reports was relentless. The empire they had painstakingly constructed through manipulation and ruthless power crumbled swiftly, collapsing like a fragile house of cards.

In my new office, Tyson was the first to break the heavy silence. With a triumphant slap, he dropped a thick folder onto the desk. “They’re finished,” he declared, a broad grin spreading across his face. “Absolutely finished. They can’t pull a single move now.”

I nodded silently, my eyes scanning the documents before me. “Good,” I murmured softly. “Make sure their businesses are converted into community centers. No one should be displaced in the process.”

Tyson’s smile grew wider. “Already underway.”

I glanced up at him, but I couldn’t summon the same enthusiasm. The news should have felt like a victory, a moment to celebrate. The downfall of the Trevanes had been years in the making, yet all I sensed was a hollow void inside.

Because the one person I longed to share this moment with wasn’t here.

Turning toward the window, I watched the sun dip low over the western horizon, casting long, stretching shadows across the land I had fought so fiercely to protect. In the distance, workers were already dismantling the Trevanes’ banners from their imposing gates.

Tyson noticed my distant gaze and the emptiness in my eyes. His grin faded as he asked quietly, “Not even going to smile?”

I cleared my throat and forced a smile, though it didn’t reach my eyes. “I am,” I lied, voice heavy. “Just… tired.”

He didn’t buy it. He never did when it came to Luna.

I clenched my jaw, swallowing the bitterness that still churned inside me. Days had passed, but the ache in my chest remained sharp and unyielding.

Tyson shifted uncomfortably, then tried to change the subject. “Your new office is nice,” he said softly. The grand house behind the Trevanes’ estate had been transferred to my name—it was now mine.

I nodded slowly, my eyes drifting back to the sprawling grounds before me. The garden was beautiful, lush and well-tended.

But all I could think about was how much Luna would have adored this garden—the wide windows that welcomed the sunlight, the way the light played across the polished floors.

Tyson’s voice softened, sensing my mood. “You should take some time to rest, you know. Everyone would understand.”

“I’ll rest when everything’s settled,” I replied, the words feeling strange even to my own ears.

He hesitated for a moment, then nodded. “Alright, boss.”

I stood up, adjusting my collar with a faint sigh. “Get that ready again,” I said, gesturing toward the table. “The resolution for the lower Alphas. I want them at the workshop with the Northern delegates by Friday morning.”

He saluted playfully. “You got it.”

Just as I turned back toward my desk, the door suddenly flew open.

Confetti burst into the air, raining down in a colorful shower.

For a moment, I was caught off guard as the bright paper fluttered to the floor. Tyson jumped, nearly dropping his clipboard in surprise.

“What the hell?” he muttered.

“Congratulations!” came the chorus from the doorway.

Tessa appeared, holding a cake carefully in her hands. Rowan had a party horn clenched between her teeth, which she promptly blew far too close to my ear. Cade smiled broadly as he set a small box down on my desk, while Arden clapped enthusiastically on the side.

Rowan threw her arms around my shoulders. “You did it, Abel! The title is yours and yours alone.”
