His future would only be limitless if Sophia was dead!
“How is this messing around?” Charles lowered his head to look at her, his face so close to hers he was almost touching her.
He tightened his grip around her throat and said slowly, “Is this messing around?”
“Charles, she’s your grandmother. You’ll strangle her to death if you continue… this…” Jax had blood all over his neck and four limbs, and there was a troubled look on his face as he said this.
However, instead of letting go, Charles merely reached his other hand out to grab Sylvia’s throat as well before holding her up in the air. “Grandmother? Did she remember that she’s my grandmother when she killed the woman I love? Hmm?”
His eyes were filled with resentment and the blood veins in his eyes seemed as if they were about to turn into blood and flow out of his eyes. He looked as if he was about to kill.
Sylvia was running out of air and her mind went blank. She kicked her legs as her hands instinctively reached out to Charles’ hands, trying to break herself free.
Pain!
Just as if she was about to die the very next second!
“Does it hurt?” Charles watched her eyes roll to the back of her head and his lips curled up into a sadistic smile. “I’m not even doing much and you’re already hurting so badly?”
“What about Sophia? Can you even imagine how much pain she was in when she burned to death? The pain and suffering she went through were a hundredfold worse than you, maybe even a thousandfold!”
One look at the wounds on Sophia’s body already ached his heart, and he could not possibly imagine the agony she felt!
Sylvia’s tongue bulged out as her face flushed red. She was in no state to answer his question.
She really had the feeling that she was about to die…
Still, Charles was indifferent to how much she struggled. Instead, he merely tightened his grip.
The people who caused Sophia’s death deserved to die!
Seeing that someone’s life was at the edge, the doctor and nurses could not hold back their fright anymore and quickly hurried forward to stop him. However, Sterling did not give them the chance. He grabbed a chair and shooed them all away, not allowing them to go any closer to Charles.
This evil witch killed Soph. She deserved to die, he would just go to prison on Charles’ behalf when the time came!
“Stop!”
Right then, someone kicked the door open.
Yvette came running into the room anxiously with two handsome middle-aged military officers who immediately went straight to Charles and pulled him away.
Things would get messy if someone died!
“Charles, let go!” The eldest son of the Cox family tried to yank Charles away, but Charles did not budge still as he kept a steady grip around Sylvia’s throat.
Sylvia was noticeably much weaker now, and she looked as if she did not have much time anymore.
Desperate, the second son of the Cox family hit Charles’ neck with a knife-hand strike.
He had been in the army for many years now and he was skilled at controlling his strength. He was certain that this magnitude of force was sufficient to put an adult man out. However, Charles’ body merely shook lightly as he released Sylvia.
Sylvia wrapped her hands around her throat as she coughed violently.
She had never realized how great being able to breathe felt than this very moment.
Charles slowly turned around and looked at Yvette who had rushed over to stop him, as well as his two uncles, and his eyes turned cold. “Give me a valid reason to stop.”
“Sophia was fine when she left my place, my maids can testify for me. Something must have happened to her as she made her way back. If you’re angry, you should look for the person who killed Sophia, not me.”
She was terrified of Charles in this state, but she did not think she was wrong. She had done this for his own good, and she still believed that he would understand this one day.
Even if he did not come to realize this, it was no problem either. At least she knew that everything she had done for him was for his own good!
“First, you had someone to persuade Aunt Jenny not to seek treatment. Then, you use Sophia’s niece and nephew to threaten Nicole and have her frame me for everything, thinking that this would drive a wedge between me and Sophia.
“When that happened, you arranged fake bodyguards to stay by Sophia’s side and used me and Harris Corporation to threaten her so that she would follow your instructions and play along with you.
“Now, you’re telling me that Sophia’s death has nothing to do with you. Do you actually think I’ll believe you?”
Did she really think he would believe her bullsh*t excuses?
Yvette had not known about all this, and she was frowning as she heard Charles speak. Forget the fact that Charles was ‘kidnapped’ by his own paternal grandmother when he was fifteen years old, to think that this grandmother of his had set such traps for him now?
Sylvia had nowhere else to go as her back touched the wall behind her. She stopped and looked up at Charles, her face a ghastly shade of white.
“The only thing you care most about in your entire life is this face of yours, am I right? Would you be sad if I were to leave scars all over it?” Charles crouched down and picked up the fruit knife that was still stained with blood.
He straightened his back with the knife in his hand. As he stood against the light, Sylvia could not see the look on his face, only the sharp edge of the fruit knife and the blood that dripped from the edge of the knife.
It was gory and absolutely terrifying.
Sylvia’s blood went cold. “Char… Charles, what are you doing? I’m your grandmother by blood!”
Charles did not even bother to respond as he crouched down before her and grabbed her firmly by the chin.
