Alpha's Second Chance novel Chapter 316

SAM

It has been nearly two weeks since my kings, and Alpha asked me to go on a mission. Our world is treated by an individual who thinks he knows better. But after everything they told me, the plans this rouge has will put everyone in danger.

Almost twenty years ago, I remember when our Alpha found out he was heir to the American throne. At a young age, he had already accomplished so many things and survived even more. So I knew then he would be a great king, one of the best ever seen.

The surprise was even bigger when the world learned about the responsibility the young king would have. I saw the boy grow up at a distance and struggle with the powers he had been given. But he was always a good boy, protective of those needing it.

Seeing the young king grow up and see who he became gave me faith that he would save our world one day.

So when they asked for help, I knew I could not say no, even if Jacob and his mate weren’t happy with it, mostly because I would have no way to stay in touch, as it could expose me.

The worst part of this mission is to feel disconnected from my pack. In order to be sure no one would suspect me, I had to not only look and act like a rouge. I had to become one, and that meant to lose my pack.

The queen had assured me that my home was with them and that they would be ready with open arms when I came back. She wasn’t happy with my mission either but understood this was our best chance.

-

I was currently eating meat from a deer that I had caught. And I was getting ready to rest for the night when something caught my senses. Something was moving closer, and it was different, not a deer.

I could hear paws, heavy ones and eight of them, and the smell of rotten trash got stronger. I decided to act as if I had not felt them, as most new rouges have very little control.

When I knew they were close enough, I stood up, looking around, on guard.

“Who is there?” I ask, and no answer.

“Look, I’m just a lone wolf. I want no trouble, and I have food if you want something.” I said, sounding a bit rambling.

“Calm down, rouge, you are just fine.” A voice says. And I suppose they shifted to human form.

“Who are you?” I ask carefully.

“We are like you, just more fortunate than you.” The voice said as two men stepped out of hiding.

“What do you mean, because there are two of you and only one of me?” I ask defensively.

“What about you,” I asked the other one, but it was the first one who spoke.

“Oh, he can’t speak. He lost his tongue defending his pack, and his Alpha threw him out.” He says. I look at the other one again, and he shows me his tongue is gone. I feel sorry for him. He didn’t deserve this.

“Hey, do you want to be a part of a rouge pack?” The first one asks, and I look at him.

“Rouge pack?” I ask, and he smiles.

“Yes, a rouge pack. We are still all rouges, as we are not recognized as a pack. But we live as one, with a great leader. He has big plans and wants to change things for us, rouges. And he is not afraid of admitting it.” The rouge said. This has to be it. It all fits. And I know I need to play my cards right now.

“I don’t know, it sounds too good to be true,” I say, sounding unsure

“Oh, it is true alright. Come with us, see it, hear him, and you will see what we see. A true leader.” He says, and I act as if I’m thinking.

“Alright, I’ll come,” I say calmly, and the rouge smiles.

‘This is it, Sam.’ I say to myself.
