I was stunned.
I had almost forgotten that today was my birthday.
Throughout my life, my birth had never seemed worth celebrating. No cake, no gifts, not even a single person had ever said “Happy Birthday” to me in any meaningful way.
Later, as Ferris’s partner, I had spent every birthday quietly alone. No surprises, no companionship.
Over time, I had gotten used to it–no longer mentioning it, no longer expecting anything.
“Yes,” I responded.
On the other end of the phone, Adrian said softly: “I’ll spend tonight with you.”
I thought for a moment, my lips curving slightly: “Okay, I’ll come pick you up tonight.”
The moment I hung up, a long–lost warmth stirred in my heart.

On the other end, Adrian also put away his phone, his lips curving slightly. The private jet slowly took off, with endless clouds outside the window.
The doctor was examining his wound, frowning: “Your wound can’t be strained anymore. After going to Silver Moon Pack, you must be careful and avoid strenuous activities, or it could easily tear and become infected.”
“I understand,” Adrian’s tone was calm, but his gaze remained fixed on the sea of clouds outside the window.
In his palm, he clutched a small black velvet box tightly–he had never anticipated meeting someone this much.
After hanging up, I left a note on the table saying I was going to see a friend that evening, then left home.
Meanwhile, Ferris had just come down from his study.
He was still wearing his shirt with sleeves slightly rolled up, as if he had just finished handling documents. He had originally intended to ask me to have dinner together, but stopped at the dining table.
“Friend?”
