Hearing his words, I could be almost ninety percent certain it was Ashley who told him that I had asked her for
money.
However, this matter puzzled me.
Given Ferris’s personality, he was never the type to tolerate etrayal. If he really knew, he should have confronted me directly instead of beating around the bush with hints.
I quietly sent Dane a text message.
Soon after, a taxi stopped steadily in front of me. The person in the driver’s seat was Dane.
Worthy of being Adrian’s most capable subordinate, he was considerate in every way.
I got in the car, and Dane said while driving: “There’s a car following us.”
No need to guess–it was Ferris’s people.
“Should we shake them off?” he asked.
“No need,” I said lightly.
If we really shook them off, it would only increase Ferris’s suspicion. Not worth it.
Dane looked at me through the rearview mirror: “So where to now?”
“Please accompany me to wander around. I’ve been feeling really stifled lately.”
“Alright.”
The car immediately fell quiet.
I rolled down the window, looking at the familiar yet strange street scenes outside, my mood gradually calming in the breeze. The air had the fresh scent of pre–rain and the lingering old atmosphere of memories.
Ferris’s people followed us all the way, watching this taxi wander aimlessly around the city, and finally reported the situation to him.
He was silent for a moment, then instructed: “Keep watching”
Around 9 PM, Ferris stayed at the company a bit longer before having his driver take him to the café on Cross Street.
And I had already arrived there.

Chapter 115
Her tone was gentle but contained sharp edges.
“Take this 100 million first, consider it my personal assistance to you.”
In the car, Ferris’s face suddenly turned cold upon hearing this, his brow furrowed tight. His patience was wearing thin bit by bit.
He had already decided–as long as I dared to accept that 100 million, he would immediately rush in and take me back to the villa.
From then on, the “freedom” I wanted would become a complete joke.
But I didn’t take it.
I gently pushed the check back, looking at Ashley with calm eyes.
“Weren’t you the one who asked me first, ‘How much money would it take for you to leave Ferris?“”

“How is it that now you’re the one setting a price for me?”
