Alpha's Cursed Mate novel Chapter 33

Estelle's POV

The blush on Lance's face softens his haughty, cold expression, and his long, slender eyelashes twitch slightly, hiding the sharpness of his dark blue eyes.

He smells awesome and I breathe hard with my head buried in the joint between Lance's shoulder and neck. It's a warm, woody scent, and I lick his skin as a heavy breathing sound comes out of his nose.

The burning sensation on my wrist grew stronger, and the heat made Lance notice something was wrong.

"What's this?!" Lance raised his hands that were clasped together with mine, and he spotted the mark, the mark of the rose as bright red as a brand.

I didn't answer him, now that I didn't have his voice in my ears. My attention was all on his elastic flesh under my teeth. My consciousness told me that his flesh and blood would taste like honey.

Lance's thumb rubbed over the mark and I instinctively bit into the skin of his neck, very hard. lance's blood dripped from his skin and he tasted as good as I thought he would. I sucked on the blood, as eagerly as a man hiking in the desert would see water.

"What are you doing?!" Lance pinched my jaw before he could get my teeth off his skin.

I licked the blood left in the corner of my mouth and Lance looked at me like I was looking at a monster. I woke up with that look and my brain just started to function properly.

"I don't know." The metallic taste of blood was all over my mouth as I thought back to what had just happened. God, I was about to throw up. What the hell had I just done?

"Where did this come from?" Lance grabbed my wrist and held it in front of my eyes.

"I don't know. I slept and it just came on." It wasn't just the high fever now; I felt like my body was undergoing a transformation of sorts, a painful one. So much so that I couldn't even face Lance's anger, and the nausea and vertigo made me feel like something was going to overflow from my chest.

"Liar." Lance's hand cupped my face, his eyes as cold as the solid ice of the deep sea. "That's the mark of a vampire."

Noah! I recalled the dream, or maybe it wasn't a dream at all. noah confused me, he bit my wrist. That's why I have that red mark on my wrist.

"I remember now, it was Noah who bit me." I felt cold sweat already covering my back, and the discomfort in my body made it almost impossible to think. My blood was like boiling hot lava, but my skin was chilled to the bone.

"Don't be sophomoric, just look at yourself."

Lance lifted my entire body from the bed and I was carried by him to the large mirror in the bathroom. Looking at my face in the mirror, my heart stopped beating.

It was a pair of eyes that I had seen in my dreams, overflowing with blood red, and it was now growing on my face.

"What else do you want to say? Vampires."

My mind went blank. When one encounters great pain and breaks down, there is nothing one can say. My throat was choked up and I had red eyes growing on my face. This proves nothing, my act of drawing blood just now had nothing to do with Noah. He may have left an imprint on me, but he didn't transform me.

We have all seen transformed werewolves or humans who are irrational monsters. They become as ugly as inhuman after transformation. And I can still think now, and my face has not changed in any way. So, I was originally a vampire.

It's like my life crumbled and rebuilt in this bathroom. No, I wasn't even sure Lance would kill me right away. His cold eyes were like a scalpel, trying to plow through every secret in my body.

"Believe it or not, I never knew this." I explained to him, suppressing my discomfort.

"Did the people who died have anything to do with you?" Lance pressed my head against the sink, the cold tile pressing against my cheekbone.

"It's okay, I don't know anything!"

I know it's all too hard to tell, the threatening letter with my name on it, the body found in my room. The most important piece of evidence was these red eyes of mine. It was like a trap for Lance.

"I don't believe you." Lance threw me to the ground.

I finally got to see the true face of the leader of the Legion today, the "cold-blooded dictator" as everyone calls him. He had never let me see this side of him before.

Lance didn't say a word, and his face was so grim that it seemed to drip water. The alpha aura emanating from him pressed down on my spine and I couldn't even lift my head. His foot was on my fragile neck and my face turned red.

"Don't lie to me."

"...... I didn't." I squeezed a few words out of my teeth. My eyes had gone black, the physical discomfort and the mental blow coming at me like two big mountains.

Lance lifted me off the floor and threw my entire body onto the mirror.

"Bang!" The mirror exploded behind me, and a few of my bones may have broken. There were also shards of glass, large and small, lodged in my skin, and warm blood ran down the porcelain white sink.

In the last moments of my dissipating consciousness, Lance's furious face was branded on my retinas.

"Geez..." Marvin held one hand to his forehead, "I didn't think she'd awaken, she's already a werewolf, isn't she?"

"It's time for you to tell me the truth, who in your family is a vampire?"

Marvin muttered to himself irresolutely, and after a while he spoke, "My wife, Karen."

"I looked into it, and I remember her being human."

"She camouflaged up, and we needed to live together. My old wolf pack allowed humans to live with us."

"So you let a vampire into your wolf pack?" Ethan was suspicious of his loyalty, and he interrupted our conversation directly.

"She's not that kind of vampire! She's fine, she's the best woman in the world."

"I don't care. Does this attack on the wolves have anything to do with you?" That's what I wanted to know most, and I guess he didn't dare lie to me.

"Of course not, Karen left everything about vampirism to marry me and she's been missing for over ten years. I have no contact with other vampires." His tone was so sincere that if he wasn't telling the truth, then he was too good an actor.

"Well, go in and see Estelle, don't disturb her rest." I let Marvin enter the hospital room.

"Do you take his word for it?" Ethan asked me.

"Not all believe it, but we can't find out anything else."

"Estelle's a vampire? That's not something I would have thought of." Ethan didn't like vampires as much as any werewolf, but I didn't want him to like Estelle too much either. They seem to have a good relationship, and I sometimes feel uncomfortable because of that.

"No one must know about this, the wolves will panic and Estelle's life will be in danger." I said to Ethan.

"I'll take care of it." Ethan walked toward the doctor's office, even though I had instructed him to. But still, he needed to understand that there were certain things he couldn't say.

No sooner had Ethan left than Marvin burst out of the ward, his face and neck turning red with rage. I hurriedly pushed open the door of the ward, and the infusion rack was slammed into the doorway. estherl was lying motionless on the floor, and I ran over to pick her up. To my surprise, her eyes turned back to blue. I guess this had something to do with her state at the moment, as her beautiful blue eyes looked at me unfocused.
